WILD FLOWERS

And here we exist
Like wild flowers in a meadow
Growing alone
Growing in clusters

Rebirthing reseeding
Scattered on the wind
Frozen in ice
Or wilting in sin

Some more beautiful
Others taller
Many trampled
To something much smaller

Faces turned to the sun
Some fed well with rain
Some parched with hunger
Most living in pain

Regardless, we go forth
In love and in vain
For at the end of it all
Death laughs in his gain

Dying in clusters
Dying alone
In this abandoned meadow
We call proud our home

Where the seeds
Were first scattered
By all things
Unknown.
