Wildflowers

Wildflowers

We walked for hours that day.
The sun was not to hot
the wind not too wild.
We passed the houses
locked in family times.
We passed the streets
Where children played.

He held my hand
the whole time.
Unusually quiet for him.
I was worried in case
he had something bad
to say to me.

Then as we reached
the outskirts of the town.
Where the asphalt ended.
We entered an open
field blooming
In the sunlight
with wildflowers.

Every inch of the meadow
Was covered
in glorious wildflowers.
It was like a magic carpet
of a million colors.

He knelt and
picked a handful
of the lovely flowers.
And hugged me
Giving me the biggest kiss
As he thrust the bouquet
Into my hand.

He whispered.
Finally something
As beautiful
as you are my love.
