WALTER TULL

WALTER TULL

Walter Tull is certainly not a household name
However his life story would put others to shame
He lost both parents when he was nine years old
So starts the beginning of one of the greatest stories ever told

In the London orphanage Walter Tull did not fit in
But if you have a talent does it matter the colour of your skin ?
Football and Walter were made for each other
A way to escape and supported by his brother

Pretty soon Walter was spotted and for Spurs he did play
However the racial abuse he suffered meant he had to get away
To Northampton Town Walter Tull then did go
World War One was looming in the background just so you know

Second Lieutenant Tull died in combat in Northern France
This brother, orphan and footballer had no chance
A remarkable story of a remarkable man
A story I'm happy to share the best way I can
