WALTER TULL

Walter Tull is certainly not a household name 
However his life story would put others to shame 
He lost both parents when he was nine years old 
So starts the beginning of one of the greatest stories ever told 

In the London orphanage Walter Tull did not fit in 
But if you have a talent does it matter the colour of your skin ?
Football and Walter were made for each other 
A way to escape and supported by his brother 

Pretty soon Walter was spotted and for Spurs he did play 
However the racial abuse he suffered meant he had to get away 
To Northampton Town Walter Tull then did go 
World War One was looming in the background just so you know 

Second Lieutenant Tull died in combat in Northern France 
This brother, orphan and footballer had no chance 
A remarkable story of a remarkable man 
A story I'm happy to share the best way I can
