WILLIAMSJI MAVELI POEM: FAR FROM THE CHURCH BELL TOWER
FAR FROM THE CHURCH BELL TOWER

FAR FROM THE CHURCH BELL TOWER
Far from the church bell tower,
Dig his grave in spiritual power,
On a green heap beside the cave;
Lies a soul of beauty in a wave,
Nature silent, the sea, and sky alone,
And sunsets, put a mossy stone,
For all the pain he had less suffered,
My friend, my creator, my beloved dad,
George Maveli, a mindful, humble man,
I am proud of you, without any expectations
You did many things, No returns; No revenues;
Turned down to zero balance sheet; a life ledger
Accounts tally both in principal and principle;
No interest accumulated; normal or compound
But, spiritual, in holy rain flowers of
Yesterday, the tear-filled faces of today
Mourning thick mists of love,
I saw while they had happily
Gathered in and around your epitaph;
Kissing the gospels; your images;
So much love is kept as in your balance sheet.
With an immortal name and date, a wreath
And a cluster of rose flowers to open breath
Then leave it free to winds that blow,
And patient mosses creeping; slow,
And wandering wings, and footsteps rare
Of human creature pausing over there.
