Blackened Shell

Blackened Shell
A carapace of night, a somber hue,
Encases depths where beauty does reside.
A skeletal frame, a fragile view,
Yet, within this darkness, love I hide.
This ebony shell, a prison, they may say,
But it’s a fortress, guarding what’s my own.
A canvas painted with celestial gray,
Where seeds of hope and strength are sown.
I fear not the shadows, nor the cold embrace,
For in this darkness, I find inner light.
A phoenix rising, from life's somber space,
Determined to claim my rightful height.
So let them judge, let doubt and fear assail,
I’ll nourish my spirit, let my essence prevail.
For beneath this black shell, a soul does reside,
Unyielding, untamed, a force to abide.
