Winter Magic

The magician appears and waves his sphinx-like magic wand.

                                        Abracadabra!

                     Whipping, whistling, winter winds blow

                                Against icy windowpanes.

He etches swirling flakes of shimmering ice on my window.

                         White, wondrous flakes of snow

Flutter form the sky, like sparkling diamonds,

                    Creating glistening branches of white.

The ground is covered in a blanket of frosty snow.

Children are delighted, building snowmen and throwing snowballs

Birds fly south in search of warmer weather,

                           Bears hibernate for the winter.

Night approaches, it's quiet and still

Families nestle cozily in their homes

As winter pulls his last trick of the season

                          He freezes the gossamer snow

                          Into translucent, slippery ice

What an enchanted scene of snow-white

                                        Wonderland!
