A Winters Night

A Winters Night

~~On the winter branch the white bird calls
Cry’s loud for a summer that once lingered
To a sun blessed day that caressed its soul
Alone in the frozen branches of winters fingers.

No song from its throat only silent breath
In the misty snows falling flakes hides death
In the bitter night cold and long
Inside its heart sings a summer song

The paper moon pours pure white light
Reflecting bright the snow-capped night
As skeleton trees begin to sway forlorn
Welcoming another winters morn.
