A Winter's Tale

The first flake from a clear blue sky
as winter settles it's season in
falling gently from Jack Frost's eye
so quickly it melts on your soft warm skin

A chill in the air brings the cold so close
frosty mornings from November's breeze
frozen water in the garden hose
the barren trees now have lost their leaves

The crisp footfalls on the frosty grass
the first Robin sitting on the garden fence
ice so black scores the road like glass
snowflakes fall and become more dense

A spider's web with white jewels glistens
fields of green grow ever so pale
children sing as passers by listen
and the day enters the winter's tale

from making snowmen to snow angels
children enjoying the season's gifts
Santa.  Presents.  and bells that jingle
the land disappears in white snow drifts

It's Christmas morn as the children wake
what wonders did Santa and his reindeer bring
it's the season for all to give not take
and Auld Lang Syne brings the new year in
