Far too many times
I've been victimized
by the harsh process of elimination.. 

My defense mechanism
is to go inner numb..

Wear the cloak of apathy
spiked with sarcasm..

This liberating indifference
shields me from shame
and the accompanying
feelings of life inadequacy
