The Wish

The Wish

I made a wish way back when,

to never see his face again,

I finally realized that we were through,

He broke my heart as first loves do,

I don't see his smile or remember his face

My mind is blank, with a big empty space,

Maybe a picture, maybe a hello

To help my memory, so my heart will know,

I know he's around me my heart starts to race

If only I can see him or remember his face

I could make another wish,

But this old saying is true

Be careful what you wish for,

Be careful what you do.

Cynthia!  I enjoyed this write!  Sometimes we must be thankful that the wish didn't come true especially if your perspective on life has changed and the wish won't fit in your current scenario.  Your advice at the end is apropos.

Thank you Valerie.

This is a true story of mine, but I married another good man for 22 years and when he died 11years ago

I found myself looking for the past.

I had to write this to avoid the old lady at the end of the bar with all her jewelry on waiting for a past love to rescue her.

It worked and I started to live again.
