Twas her hat that caught me
Electric blue highlighted with
shiny black
A great toweringΒ thing, at
homeΒ on her head
So regal she looked
Like a bad queen long dead,
and
I knew she had power and
towers and cats and probably
spells made with bubbling
rats, and
I wanted some then, how I
craved that great power
So I asked her to take me up
high to her tower
She looked like she'd eat me
or beat me for cheek, and I
cowered as she glowered till
at last she did speak...
She said only the wicked
would try to change fate
Are you wicked enough
Or is it fear makes you quake?
I asked what I could fear if the
worst has been done, said
I've tried all the angels and
god and the sun, but
None of them hear me for all
are quite deaf, so
How much for a potion that
can reverse death??

This is special, this is brilliant! Seriously, it begins quite light hearted really, the reader gets that sense of fun and the rhythm is upbeat as you read. And then the message hits home as you reach that final stanza. Oh wow to have such a potion jeezΒ

Absolutely agree with Tina and everyone else. This was such a brilliant rhyme and rhythm to really hold the reader in the story. I loved it all but I particularly liked the second stanza,....
She looked like she'd eat me
or beat me for cheek, and I
cowered as she glowered till
at last she did speak...
She said only the wicked
would try to change fate
Are you wicked enough
Or is it fear makes you quake?...
