Withdrawal

Locked up, darkness all around,
your breathing is the only sound.
A headache comes full force,
anxiety, restlessness, irritability,
crashing down.
No concentration, just isolation.
They are watching, waiting for your
downfall, waiting for you to break.
Suddenly your body begins to shake.
Your nerves are on edge.
 You can’t sleep.
There’s no consolation.
Feels like damnation.
Need a fix, need it now,
Without it you’ll surely die.
Now you know it’ll never come
You’re stuck in this dark damp room,
Nowhere to go, nothing to do.
Shaking, sobbing, nerves shot through,
Uncontrollable heaving,
Bowel movements loose,
Have to go through it,
might as well wear a noose.
Somebody help me,
 get me out here
I know it’s my fault
I am stuck in this hell,
At this point all I want
 is to get well.

scary thrilling brilliant writing x
Wow Mara,Â
I don't see how this one got by, snooze you loose and boy did i snooze on this one. This is about as real as you are gonna get, besides being there.Clever is your depiction of reality being mimicked in a poem, mimicking reality. As a once youth counselor, in the field of fighting addictions, not only was this a great poem, you actually wrote a story that was well told of the torment, temptations sacrifices, commitments and ultimatums, that your character has to overcome, in order for her, to obtain, that one sought after goal, that had once eluded her, that now has no choice but to, (cold turkey and single handily combat)....Â
Great depiction of real life,
