Witness

I have shed tears

that flow through centuries past.

The events i have witnessed 

will forever last. Within my mind

Within my soul.

The day that i set sail with noah

the earths destruction was already

foretold.

But my life span he did exstend

the hour that i am to return 

to dust i know not when.

I bore witness to the resurection

and the downfall of rome.

Was on the battlefield at Gettysburg

when our soldiers marched home.

Fought bravely beside JFK

onboard the PT109.

And proudly marched with Dr. King

when civil rights were on the line.

Then on September 11th

i ask God why?

So many had to suffer

So many had to die?

I have shed tears 

that flow through centuries past.

Will i again bear witness for centuries 

yet to come?

Or will my Lord forgive me

for the wrong i have done?
