To Women----Stay as Sweet As You Are

To Women----Stay as Sweet As You Are

Women

In her making she is beauty itself.
With desire for her body
built in by nature
But she changes
each few years that pass by
she is redesigned by magazines
or TV commercials
Hair styles lip gloss curves
lost to a body that is
skinny as a carving knife.
Losing her softness to
Treadmills and recumbent bikes.
Watching succulent steaks and fries
As she starves on salads.
Each sparse bite into her
red lipped mouth
that an age ago
pursed desire for ever.
She was once made of softness
Loose hair and warm curves
Desire and promise
She’s all woman
men would sigh
Has she given this away
To be constructed by pain.
Now a large ass is regarded
as an affliction
worse than rabies.
Is it worse than being
Selfish and mean?
If only we could
pick ourselves up
like our own child
hold ourselves close
give the same
unconditional love
as we do to them.
To say to the glossy magazine
Keep your Botox your diets
Your surgery and magic cures
They are made
for store mannequins
Not for beautiful
Sexy desirable real
women like me.

Brilliant and oh so true! I really am so glad you wrote this great reminder, for the commercial world is losing touch with authentic women, what that even means, faster than we can reapply our lipstick(just kidding!) But seriously, this is a great topic to bring to light, thank you Jude.
