Words of Death
"I just want you to be happy"
What those words say:
Your smile is a trophy
Your frown disturbs me
Your laughter flatters my ego
Your tears aren't needed here
Remain with me in delusion
Don't make me upset
"I just want you to be happy"
What they don't say:
I want you to grow with me
I want you to be authentic
Your pain is a part of you I embrace
Your tears water our hope
Your ups are to be celebrated and in some ways even your downs
For they shape you into an instrument of morphosis
Let's play together in this band called Life
Our reality is an eternal blank cheque

Good write but felt it's dark, right?
I was in a toxic emotionally abusive relationship for over 9 years (unaware I was a victim). Early on when we started having problems, I asked her what her hopes, dreams, and ambitons were (so I could better support her). Her answer was "I just want you to be happy". The following years defined those words as thriller-dark, yes.
