" Yesterdays Chicago Blizzard " (Feb. 1st 2015)

In the surprise of winters
Suddenness,
A poets inner motivation
In this,
The biggest blizzard, this year
I sit here,
In this wintery cold
Watching, an old man
Watching his dog,
Even though the wind
Keeps knocking him
Down, to the ground
In the snow....
The man at the bus stop
Wonders if,
The bus will make it there
After all,
There'sĀ fourteen inches
Of blinding snow
No telling if,
His bus will show
My hand,
Is freezing in
This, Chicago wind
Wondering,
If it's always been
A white Oleander peering
Through it all......
The winters white
The blankness,
Blinding us all.....
My hand can't
Continue,
I have to let go,
My mission accomplished
Here in this
Chicago snow,
And as I inch my way
Back home,
The wind is whipping
Tiny icicles into my face
It hurts to look up,
Into the wind
But,
Here in Chicago
It's the way it's always been,
And people
Passing me by
Are
Still smiling
For,
To ALL these
Natives,
This blizzard is
A more than welcome
Sight.....
