You took me in when nobody else cared if I killed myself,
You make me feel like I matter,
You love me everyday as if you were my mom,
To me… you ARE my mom.
When all I could think of was how much I wanted to die,
You made sure I knew my worth is much more than what I’ve ever been told before.
You’ve taught me more than what I’ve learned in the 20 years i’ve been alive,
You’ve shown me the kind of love and care that every child deserves,
You’ve been there for me,
You fought for my life, Literally.
And i am forever grateful that you helped save me.
You cheer me on when I feel sad,
Take my hand when I feel bad,
You help me see the good in life,
You are patient when I try to push you away
And always pull me right back in.
When I am depressed, you help me pick up the pieces.
When I am lost, you guide the way,
And I know I never have to be afraid, because you have my back.
You welcomed me into your family without hesitation,
You’ve given me a home that I know is safe,
And you helped open my eyes to see the good in life
When people ask you who I am, you’re never reluctant,
You always say “my adopted daughter,”
and you're not ashamed or embarrassed to tell people that.
I know you aren’t going to walk out,
I trust you won’t throw me away,
I believe you, and our family are here to stay, forever
You are the mom that I always dreamed about having when I was just a little girl.
(some dreams do come true)
And you are somebody I look up to in many, many ways.
I love you so much mom and I’m so grateful for the family, and the life you’ve given me!!
For the first time ever, i am part of a family that cares
and wants to show me off, not hide me away.
Thank you for being my best friend,
my biggest fan,
My strongest supporter,
and most importantly my MOM.
