Poem -
you have mail
here is the rub
the message that you sent
I have not got
although
my notifications say ..
it could be in the trash
therefore I have not responded -
instantaneously
as you seem to expect..
Maybe my life does not
depend upon reading
your messages,
maybe the pewter defiance
that I bare..
prevents me from feeling
the rub,
and I don't appear
like some fucking genie
everytime you summon
a response

Hi Pauline, great piece, in this technological would were expected to leap into action each time our phone buzzes and if we don't a bombardment of texts follow....Turing us into obsessive digital stalkers haha...

it particularly annoys me..I work all day..they claim my time..then I have others dinging me, I dont mind the dinging it's the ones who pursue like it's a rebuff it you don't predictive message before they predictive text you, I need an app...that predicts predictions ..so I know before I know, I know.
or maybe I just switch off..then I am ignoring..although I call is subliminal monitor mode.
Instantaneous communication creates the expectation of; even the demand for: an instantaneous response...which just turns us all into cups of instant coffee!!
If a response is worth getting...then it's worth bloody well waiting for!!!

it's true though Tina, we know..bless them as some don't get it..if you are at work you are not constantly looking at your phone unless you want the sack...and I dont carry it with me at home either...that is a sign of someone with something to hide, if they wont put their phone down..glad you like to read the poems, there are some fab ones one here..looking into peoples minds...beats the tv anytime.
