That last breath before the end, when we no longer breathe, the painful love so innocent
longing to stay, not leave

I watched you today
Take your final breath
Your breathing slow 
To stop

And in my heart I felt a calm, to keep you here
I could not

I let you go with many tears, I told you not to be afraid, for your soul was claimed by heaven
The moment that I prayed, 

The light so gentle surrounded you, and Jesus walked you home
To run around in freedom
The grounds of heaven roam,

You were the best dog ever, apart of my heart
And soul, you'll be remembered forever
And loved in every way

But, now I cry for our
Painful loss, for you went home today.
