Your Lipstick Stained Love Letter

The rose bushes bloom in all their glory, roses as red as her lipstick the day she kissed the first love letter addressed simply to me. Funny how their beauty fades and petals turn black and wilt as reality floods my mind. Still it helps ease the pain to imagine them as they were in that time...Your heart was mine and the roses in all of their glory shining red from their vines.

The stone path through the courtyard, recently paved with glittering stones that reflected the sun, much like my eyes reflected in yours. Both pairs of eyes held a spark, the flame of a love neither of us knew was destined to crash and burn. Reality shows it's cold hard truths, that path long since lost it's sparkle, weeds growing through the cracks forming in tune with two broken, bitter hearts. Still I cling to your faded lipstick stained letter as if somehow it will change fate.

The bench where we shared our first kiss that stood with sharpened poise as our mouths met sweetest of tastes that day, has long since broken in two, cracked down the middle, much like me and you. Reality shows what I try to avoid, beauty turned to darkness, two souls split down the middle, two hearts once conjoined as one now both shattered glass scattered to and fro. Your lipstick stained love letter falls from my grasp and blows away with the breeze. Reality you were not the one for me.
