Poem -

Youth

To have all the time and days again
My burnt out soul can't but dwell
Snake like the years slithered too fast
And the bells of youth are silent at last

It touched too briefly ,then it fled
Before I was aware it had begun
Drowning dying screaming crying!!
The song has been and gone

Pretend that  my dance will be once more
When bitterness has closed the door
I watch behind curtains of silent pain
Rivers of salt water flow like rain

Green eyes watch children in their fairy floss days
Kaleidescope memories of razor sharp ways
Their dance is now it's here it's real
Jealous  wounds I can't conceal

I'll ride through the remnants of a life now cold
Ice to water and youth turned old
It was joy ,it was sorrow , it was laughter , it was pain
And for all that it
was, it will never be again
