Poem -

Youth

Youth; an ancient opiate that has wiped reason from every mind. Rashness and hurt traipsing together; ethereal in childhood life.

But more shocking still than fleeting emotions of a certain springtime…the wrenching pull of disillusionment into depravity and depression.

Pitiable decisions made by us all; the thoughtless leaps of faith brought on by hormonal idiocy.

Doomed to crash and burn like such felled angels; torn wings of innocence.

But life continues on.

Lessons are learned and allies are made. Enemies discovered; betrayals made.

But life cannot stop; only forward.

So cherish those youthful scars brought on folly. Tests of moronic manhood and memories of failed feminine friendships

Taste tears and smiles the same; you are Youth. A personification of all ability and all lessons to be taught and learned.

Take elder words; they are a shield to a delicate ego. Steel your nerves.

Life is not the quite the pearl you were promised. You must wrench the fat from its very jaws.

But remember that you once lived and died by sun to moon; however long ago.

Reborn on the cresting of Helios.
