Zen koans are hard

Zen koans are hard

After 19 years of struggling
I finally saw it
walking in the woods
i cried tears of joy

had solved all the othersĀ
the blown hair sword
the monk in the hermitage
the falling tree in the forest

each branch of coral
holds up the moon
beware the teeth
and fangs of the dharma cave

but the sound of one hand
clappng alone
i could never penetrate
though i tried for so long

so there it was finally
so simple and clear
i cried out aloud
how high is a chinaman!
