A Tale of the Beautiful Maiden Inspired by Deborah Evens’ lovely poem “Jealousy Is A Disease”

A Tale of the Beautiful Maiden Inspired by Deborah Evens’ lovely poem “Jealousy Is A Disease”

The odious hag, so jealous of the lovely young maiden who was everything the hag could never be, pure, chaste, and beautiful, inflicted upon her the dark potion of barrenness.  Our heroine begged the evil hag to give her the antidote, promising her anything. The horrible witch, sensing a victory, agreed, but only with the stipulation that she could make the lovely maiden’s face scarred and ugly, like that of her own, believing that no lad would ever want to take her hand in marriage.  But the despicable hag’s plan backfired, when our heroine met a handsome lad, who looked not upon her face, but into her pure and loving unscathed heart, pledging his love forever.  Two years later, their precious love, engendered a bonny young boy.

Yet, there exists a codicil to this tale.  The young lad grew up to be a dashing white knight.  On his Mother’s deathbed, she finally told him the truth about her disfigurement.  After her funeral, he traveled to the coven of this witch, disguised as a Warlock.  He knocked on her door, and when she opened it, he professed his love for her.  The evil hag’s heart melted, and she led him to her bed.  He kissed her putrid lips as he stuck his dagger into her hated heart.  With her last gasp, he uttered, “this is for my Mother, who was the most beautiful woman on earth”.

My Dear G,

We found an old "before" photograph.  The "after" one that we used for "Georgie Girl", is so much more appealing.

All my love,

My Dear Debs,

The picture I used was from Lind's yearbook, her senior photo.  Wow, has she changed for the better or what!  Ha, Ha!  I'm glad you liked my embellishment, but it never would have come about, if it wasn't for your beautiful tale.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

Larry, my dear friend...

I rather suspected as much! Beneath your refined and cultured exterior as a Haiku Master...beats the restless heart of an old fashioned, blood 'n' guts, Jacobean playwright bent on grisly vengeance!!!

Embrace it!

I love the ending of this story...and I rather think it's your favourite part too!!

your friend & fan,

J ;)

My Dear Friend Jason,

Ding Dong, you ain't wrong

You hit the nail right on the head

My favorite part of this Jacobean tale

Is when the hag is finally dead

Peace and Love,
