Battle On Mars

"Our father, who art in heaven...." Darius heard a man mutter beside him, in front of him was dark, he turns around to face red light and about twenty other fully kitted up soldiers, the intense feeling of dropping down from height riddled his stomach. One man vomited in the background, "That's going to stink" Darius thought to himself.
"Five minutes" a voice rang throughout the back of the drop-ship, landing on Mars is always a tough order, landing on Mars ever since the out break of war, that's another story, dull explosions were heard outside, the drop-ship shuddered as they grew near. Ever since a faction of humans broke off from mother Earth and formed their own society, hostility between the two has been savage, yes they could of left and left us alone, but no, they have been creating weapons and were frequently targeting Earth, it's time to hit back.
This split Earthling society knows nothing of peace, they were almost driven to extinction on Earth, a huge raid on the space facilities at the right moment and Boom, off they went with technology to start a new colony, the air is still unbreathable, and there is all that red shit everywhere, pretty similar from where they came from in the first place, a home away from home you could call it.
This is plan A, if this offensive fails, we have Plan B, more of a drastic old world tactic thought of by many Earthlings in the old "uprising". Not long now Darius thought, "Helmet's on" he heard, Darius grabbed his helmet from the deck, and pressed it tight to his suit, he heard a hiss as a rush of air filled around his head. "I could get shot, blown up or suffocated" Darius thought, he knew he was one man who formed an elite squad, there were plenty of other drop-ships raining down at the same time, the Faction had the advantage of this was their own terms and terrain, and had adapted nicely to the inhospitable climate.
There was a big thud as the drop-ship landed on Mars, and the back door of the drop-ship lowered down, "Go go go!" the Commander barked, as Darius ran out amongst his comrades, there were a few other drop-ships in the way as he charged in and out of them toward the Factions make shift city, explosions could be seen, and a constant flow of gunfire witnessed and he zig zagged back and fourth, firing in the general direction of his objective. He passed plenty of corpses lying around, arms missing legs missing heads missing, he knew the second wave of drop-ships will have the combat medical staff to treat the soldiers still breathing. He hooked up with his buddy, Lance, and together they surged forward, they could see the Faction now, dug in outside their "city", it was crazy gunfire crazy.
An explosion hit a couple of metres away from Darius, him and Lance fell to the red sand, he quickly checked himself over "No leaking" he thought to himself, and went to check Lance, he was all good, they were all good. They continued their run forward, they were getting in range to start throwing explosives, about time, the drop-ships that had dropped them off took off and the gunners in them opened up on the faction below, one got hit with a rocket, and went crashing into the "city". Darius grabbed his first grenade, pull, click and throw he reminded himself from combat school, and hurled it toward the dug out, the explosion imploded, then exploded out sending limbs and torsos flying through the air. Lance did the same.
There were a few waves of Earth troops in front of them as they entered the city, soldiers were picking off Faction members up on top of building, rifle fire rained down on them from heights, and explosion ripped apart men and women and buildings. The main hall was right ahead, Lance and Darius headed for it. A couple of Sentry Bots smashed out of the front doors, and starting giving us troops all kinds of grief, we ducked for cover. One of the troops had a rocket launcher which he lined up one of the Sentry Bots with, and fired, the rocket spiralled in a clockwise directly rapidly moving forward toward its target, the Sentry Bot tried to shoot it down but the rocket made it through, hitting the Bot, sending metal shrapnel in all directions. The second Bot started walking down the stairs towards us, starting to remove our cover with gunfire, the troops flanked the Bot and tore it to shreds with rifle fire, and one grenade for luck, it was now a smoking mess on the ground, we surged again.
More Faction members were in the foyer, putting up quite a bit of resistance, "this is going well" Darius thought, as he helped in removing the threat, as they made their way to the main area of the hall, a couple of troops went to get inside but were fried from an invisible force field, all we could do was stand there and watch. In the middle of the massive room was a circular looking great big bomb, hovering outside a great big upright standing circle, a warp gate of sorts, "oh shit" Darius thought.
"Three minutes" a countdown rung throughout, the troops stood back and started hammering the force field with gunfire, it wasn't working, it wasn't penetrating, the centre of the large circle activated, and the massive bomb was positioned up near the opening, the warp gate was active! They tried detonating mines near the force field, only managed to dig a crater in the floor, this was not going to be good. Five......, Four......., Three......., Two......., One.........
The bomb entered the warp hole and disappeared, the troops started falling back, back to be collected by the drop-ships, we knew it was going to be too late.
Meanwhile, back at Earth, the bomb appeared, floated for a little bit, getting caught up in Earth's gravitational pull, then detonated, the Earth was kicked off it's natural orbit, and one half of the Earth started to crumble away outwards, slowly revealing the Earth's core, whilst drifting sideways, the Earth crashed into the moon, which pretty much completed the Earth's destruction, the planetary explosion was massive. The drop-ships got reports by way of the only remaining Space Station that Earth was no more, then the transmission fell silent, the drop-ships stayed within Mars' atmosphere, they were going to release their full payloads on the "city", as well as the Mother Ships high up in space, it's time to return the favour.

I thank your positive words on this piece, but it was a story, not a poem, cheers
