Behind the Willow chapter 1

Chapter 1

I wondered out of sight, this was my place. not for anyone else's eyes to treasure, not for anyone else's ears to hear the beautiful harmonies. Trees whispered above me, insects circled around me with their tiny wings vibrating. Tendrils comforted me, tangling onto my toes and drawing me back. Soon I reached the willow tree, it wasn't the most grand, regal tree in the forest but it was perfect. It blocked a small stone path, no one ever went in. They didn't even know about it. I got down to the roots of the tree and dug a small hole that would lead me through to the other side. I held my breath and crawled underneath. I patted the tree from the other side before drifting down the path. This side wasn't light or rainbow lit, but it had an amazing lake.

       I knew what was coming next, I walked over to the lake and got into the water. I only had to lay on my back for under 10 minutes before I could feel it slip down my spine. I closed my eyes and waited in anticipation, I floated upwards and knew that my wings had fully developed. no one knew that I was a fae person, I didn't feel the urge to tell them, it was my secret. I fluttered over to a field of white daisies and one by one I braided them into my hair.

       I was there for another 5 hours before the flowers wilted in my hair and I knew that it was time to go...
