Bird Break

At a friend's house, I happened to look out in the back yard to see a bird with its wings spread. It was lying face and beak straight and belly leveled to the ground. I paused to see this spectacular sight, only to have my friend's son come to see what I was looking at. I locked the door so that inquiry could be limited seeing the bird was not having a good day. In the Netherlands, every life has value. So I asked for my friend to call for help for the bird. Not surprising, she knew who to call and began calling. It just so happened to be on a weekend and help would not be possible, even care givers need rest too. It wasn't long before I noticed movement and became delighted with the struggle the bird was winning. Of all places to find reprieve, God gave the bird time and benefit beneath the eyes of friends. Before long it was gone. Just what happened to the bird, we will never know, but my capture of the moment both rare and real.
