Blood in the Snow

He had gotten the call from Vlad the week before. When Vlad calls it is never good. "What does he want from me now?" sighed Silas McCain. The trip to Romania had been a long one. Silas did not like Eastern Europe. It did not have the accomidations that he was used to. The slow ride into the mountainous region of Romania which is still called to this day Transylvania made him tired and irritable. The driver would only go to the foot of the mountain. With shaking hands he took his fare and left. "Coward" thought Silas. Shaking his head he grabbed his things and headed up the mountain. Halfway up the mountain he was met by an uneasy guard of werewolves. They guard the castle by day. These werewolves were not of the clan of Boris the XX. They were outcast. If their clan knew what they were doing I'm sure they would be dealt with by serious measures. The head one and the one with the most courage met him half way. "What is your business Roman?" said the werewolf named Jonas. "I'm here to see the count" he said with smile. He knew Vlad hated to be called that. If he could dig up Bram Stoker he would. "I suggest you step aside" said Silas with his hand to his side. The lycanthorpe guard knew what he put his hand on and stepped aside. Evil glares followed him up the mountain. The Castle was the original. It had been upgraded due to the destruction of time. But it had a modern flare. Security cameras could be seen following his every move. Vlad liked technology. Sooner or later the werewolf guard would would be eliminated. He would have liked to tell them but I'm sure they wouldn't believe him. After 400 years Silas knew Vlad pretty well and he was pretty sure what their fate would be. If their fellow werewolves didn't get them Vlad would. With a shake of his head he headed up the mountain. The sun was starting to go down and he knew he would be just in time. Darkness had indeed fallen by the time he got to the castle. He was met with the usual hate stares. But they were more than hate stares. They knew what he carried in the satchel that slung over his shoulders. It was vials of his own blood. This blood was like gold to the vampires. One vial would mean that they wouldn't have to feed for a month. It was his bargaining chip. The werewolves had no need for it because they were not immotal. They did not crave the innards of his bag. But they feared the golden sword that was at his side. That...was a deterant in itself. It was the legendary sword called Exalibur. Given to him by King Arthur himself. Only two kinds of people in the world can wield it. Silas McCain and the innocent. Many others have tried to disarm him and take it and met with a grisley fate. The sword hummed at his side as he walked by the unfriendly vampires. They also feared the sword but they feared Vlad more. He was the oldest and the most powerful. Silas found that out when they did battle when they first met. It was a Mexican standoff. Silas had not need to kill the king of the vampires. In God's plan the vampire was nothing more than the top of the food chain. As such, was not subect to extinction. He knocked on the door and was met by Xavier. Vlad's second in command. "This way" pointed the rat faced vampire. He did not like Xavier for he knew that if Xavier had his way the world would be ruled by vampires and not have to hide in the shadows. But he also knew that if the humans ever got wind of the vampire kingdom that it would no longer exist. Humans tend to kill what they fear. Most clans wait for their leader to die and then be succeded. But vampires are immortal and Xavier had to live with the fact that he would always be number two. "You don't have any religous artifacts or anyelse like that" said the wary vampire. "No" laughed Silas. "I don't need anything like that and you know it" he said with his hand on the hilt of Excalibur. "And keep your hands off my bag" said Silas. You know damn well that Vlad would not take too kindly if anyone dipped in it before he got his share" . The vampire grumbled something inaudible and led the way. They came up to a door and Xavier swipe his hand over it. It recognised his handprint and opened the door. Inside the count was having his morning sup. The blood looked like sheeps blood or something. The old vampire looked like he was a kid eating liver that he despised. His eyes lit up when he saw the tall Roman. With a toss of his hand he threw the sheeps blood against the wall. Minor vampires scurried to clean it up with Xavier standing over them shouting in Romanian to be quick about it. With the mess cleaned up the old vampire turned to Silas and held out his pale hand. "Dracula my old pal" said Silas. This made the old vampire mad. He did not like to be called Dracula. "Do not call me that" the old vampire screamed. "Sorry Count"said Silas with a smile on his face. The king of the vampires just stared at him.He didn't like to be called that either. He put the satchel on the table and the old vampire eagerly opened it and took out a vail. and popped the cork and greedily drank it. Almost immediatley his face flushed with color and his demenor changed. He looked almost human. "Too bad it didn't eliminate your allergy to UV rays huh count" laughed Silas. Vlad the Impaler waved of his servants and Xavier. With a groan they made their exit. "Just a minute" said Silas. "I forgot something outside". He stepped out the door to see a dejected Xavier waiting the hall. He knew Xavier would have to wait for his share and was none too happy about it. "Here" said Silas as he tossed him a vail that he had in his pocket. "Don't say I never gave you anything" as he watched the vampire scramble to get the lid off and greedily drink it. With a sigh the the second in command was like a heroin junkie that had just had a fix.Off in the distance he could heard growling and fighting and the sound of a werewolf plummeting to his death. "not good" though Silas. The alarm sounded and that meant that Xavier had to go to the door and greet someone else. With a shrug Silas turned and went back into the king's chamber. Having his hunger sated the old vampire did not look so meanacing and looked like his old charming human self. "You are not the only one I called" and motioned Silas to take a seat. "There will be others coming" said Vlad nonchalantley. A buzz on the door meant that Xavier had again swiped his hand to let in. Behind him was an old man that Silas recognized. It was Boris XX. The twentieth king of the werewolf clan. Behind him was his eldest son Dimitri. The young man had a look of distaste about him. It was clear that he had no love for vampires. Silas had heard stories of this Dimitri. He was cruel and reckless unlike his wisened father Boris. Boris was the name alloted to him when he decended to the throne of the lycanthropes. Hir real name was Ivan. He spoke poor english. The Russian he spoke was not to good either. He prefered to speak the language of his people and talk in barks and growls. For this meeting though he had decided to speak Russian. Silas could speak Russian but would prefer not too considering it a barbaric language. The prince said nothing and merley stared at the vampire king and his comrade. Vlad was not pleased. "you killed my guard" he rasped in anger. The prince merley looked at him and said "then you better get new one's because the traitors to my people do not deserve to live and serve scum like you". The old man put a hand over his mouth and silenced him. "My son" the old man shook his head. "Is a bit of a hothead. In all fairness I will replace your guards". The prince flew into a rage and started to transform. Almost immediatley Excalibur was at this throat. The wolf prince could hear the humming as it came within inches of decapitating him. "If I were you" said an annoyed Silas McCain " I would listen to your father." "And besides" said Vlad. "You'd never make it out of the caslte alive." The prince slowly retained his human form and sat silent with fury. The old man barked a few sylables to the prince and he immediatley changed his attitude. Vlad had no idea what he said but Silas knew. "And you Vlad" said Silas. "Nothing funny like what happened in Venice". "Ah yes Venice" smiled the old vampire. "Good times...good times"
Venice 1797
He had been chained up for almost 5 years now. They had been feeding of him for almost the whole time. Xavier, Vlad's second in command oversaw the feeding process. They drained blood from him almost hourly. During the day they had human lackeys do it. All the blood that they drained from him went to Vlad. They drew blood from him until about noon and gave him time for his blood supply to replenish and the lesser vampires would come and feed at night. Xavier first of course. The chains that held him were strong. After about three years they started to wear into his hands. The vampires realizing that their prey was starting to decompose took him out of them for about 3 hours a day. Being immortal his wounds would begin to heal immediatley. Silas had come up with a plan. When they unhooked him for that 3 hours he would fiegn unconsiousness. The cackling vampire that undid him every day had his usual taunts and had decided to feed off of him that day. He was taking a chance. If Vlad knew that this was happening he would face death by the Sun. Of all the death's a vampire could die. Death by the Sun was the most feared. But this one was cocky. He had talked a companion into feeding also. The young vampire was stupid and was afraid of the bigger vampire and went along. When the vampire took him out of his chains to and said with a sneer "don't get any ideas meat" he laughed. "Vlad would be very displeased if he found out what you two were up to." said Silas. This made the vampire hestiate. "Don't listen to him" said the big older vampire "He is always looking to seperate us" Silas sent out a signal for Excalibur. The sword cannot move itself and would need a host to bring it to him. Knowing no children in the area would dare come to the castle he sent the signal out anyway. The first vampire fed off him and a glow came about him that he hadn't felt in years. The blood was fresh and the eternal hunger that resided in him faded away at least temporarily. The young vampire also fed off him and for the first time in his wretched vampire existance life seemed tolerable. He hadn't felt this way since the village down below brought them prisoners. Even then he got the scraps being a young vampire and all. All of a sudden a dog jumped through the window. In it's mouth was a leather scabbard. At first the two vampires were surprised to see the dog. Their suprise turned to fear when they realized that the leather scabbord contained the golden sword which was at the same exact time being given to the Roman. The last moments of thier lives were quick and painless. The two vampire heads rolled down the uneven floor to be turned to dust when the sun rose.(vampires did not bury thier dead. The sun did it for them). And when the other vampires came to see what the commotion was they were met with a golden flash of death. In a rage Silas McCain cut through them like a hot knife in butter. They barely had the time to get thier defenses up before their dry and crusted heads hit the concrete. When his rage had subsided Silas looked around the castle chamber and counted all the dead vampire bodies. Just then Xavier gasped when he saw all his fallen comrades and the Roman with the golden sword in his hand. He thought his long life would come to an end at that very moment but Silas had other plans. "You tell Vlad that if he ever tries this again that I will come for his head." and left through the window to freedom. When Xaivier told the master what had happened the master said nothing. Xavier was relieved. Usually the beared of bad tidings gets fed to the sun. Today the master stood alone and mounred his lost of sustinance. "Real good times' said Silas. "Real good". and swished his sword in a manner that the old vampire knew too well. One day it would be meant for him.
They had boarded a train in Sofia, Bulgaria. Silas had to laugh as he could hear the conductor mention something about smelling wet dog. Dimitri was not amused. By this time they had dropped old man Boris off in Moscow. He had sent his son because he felt that youth was more appproriate due to the fighting he knew that was going to take place. Silas had wished the old man had come instead of the young hotheaded son. Don't misunderstand, the old man was just as vicious and bloodthirsty as the son it was just that the years had tempered his blooddesire and he was wise enough and smart enough to know when to strike and when not to. While on a short stay in the city of Kiev in the Ukraine Dimitri had slipped out into the night and had come back with blood stained clothes. Silas realized that it was his nature to go out and hunt at night(true lycanthropes can transform even in the daylight) but he had hoped that the blood on the clothing of the young upstart was not human. Silas did not want to have to make Dimitri his target. As they rode on the train the young werewolf barely spoke to Silas for he deemed him unworthy of conversation. If the old man had not told him to spare the monster hunter Dimitri would have taken his throat long ago. Silas all the while realized this and kept his guard. Being immortal he did not worry about being murdered by this werewolf but it took years, even decades to get his features back and that was a hardship on his mission and his handler would show no sympathy so he would have to live out decades and be deemed a monster just like the one's he hunted.. While Silas slept he had kept the golden sword close. He even let Dimitri get a glimpes of it at times just to remind him of whom he was dealing with. Dimitri knew about the sword and had doubts until one day he decided to try and touch it. After he peeled himself off the wall he decided that it was not a good idea to do this again in the future realizing that Silas was the only person in the world that was able to touch it and wield it.Some people called it the sword of the Arch Angel(Which it was) but using further investigation he had come to know the sword by it's true name "excalibur". Dimitri had not spoken to Silas for days. This was starting to piss him off. "We have to make plans when we get to England" said Silas. The werewolf just looked out the window and said nothing. "WE HAVE TO MAKE PLANS WHEN WE GET TO ENGLAND" Silas said in language of barks and grunts. That got the werewolf's attention. "You speak lycan" said Dimitri in more shock then respect. "I learned how to speak when I was with King Boris the first" said Silas. "so, you know what my father and I were talking about on the trip to Moscow" said Dimitri with his head held down. "Yes" said Silas. "How?" stuttered the young werewolf. "My father is King Boris the Eightth"
"I am immortal" said Silas. I am 2000 years old this month". Dimitri seem shocked. "Remember when Vlad called me Roman"? said Silas "Yes I remember but I thought he was being fecicious". " I am the Roman Soldier that whipped the Christ" said Silas. "My punishment is to fight evil where I find it until Judgement day where I hope to be forgiven and freed from this curse" he said as he took a drink of scotch. "You mean to tell my that you have been in the presence of the Christ?" laughed Dimitri. "I'll believe that Mickey Mouse is real before I believe that" mocked Dimitri. Silas sighed and knew he had to put on a demostration to prove he was who he said he was. He pulled out Excalibur and the young werewolf jumped to defend himself "Relax" said Silas "I don't plan to use it on you". He put the sword to his throat and cut across the adam's apple. "Holy chocolate" said Dimitri and jumped back and magically before his eyes the cut healed and it looks as if he had not cut it at all. "Damn that hurt" growled Silas. "Ok" said Dimitri. "I see you had something on your mind since we left Vlad's castle" said Silas fishing for information. "Yes I have. When Vlad said that you owed him" what did he mean by that?" Dimitri said with anger in his eyes. "I use vampires to help me sometimes. They are good for the darker creatures, and especially good when it comes to creatures like the Wendigo and the Boogeyman". "The Wendigo" mused Dimitri. I have heard of this creature. Legend tells me that it eats the human flesh and always craves more and is an agile and smart hunter. Even more so then us". "Yes" said Silas. "I use the vampires to scope him out. They are not warm blooded and the Wendigo has no desire to consume them". So you are in love with these vampires" it was more of a question than a statement. "No" said Silas shaking his head. "I think they are stupid and impulsive. The only thing they seem to care about is when their next meal is going to happen. The only smart one of the bunch is Vlad and others fear him and me more than they need to eat." said Silas with a laugh. "Other than helping you why do you keep them around" asked Dimitri.. "Because they are part of the plan" said Silas. "What plan is that?" asked the young lycan. "Beats me" said Silas shrugging his shoulders and downed the rest of his scotch. "How do you know the lycans?" Dimitri asked suspiciously. " I used to hunt them" said Silas looking Dimitri in the eye. This raised the hackles on the young werewolf. "Relax" said Silas. "The lycans I hunted were the berserkers. Crazy individuals that hunt alone. Not only do they hunt humans and animals but other lycans. You know this, why do you act so surprised? At first I used to think that the lycans were all berserkers until I met Boris the 1st. The Romans used to hand over their criminals. I had never knew what happened to them. They had not been put in the games nor been fed to the Lions. I was suspicious and followed a group being led out of Naples. Sure enough they were taken by a group of men or what I thought were men and taken to the mountains. I followed their wagon trains and watched and listened to the men weep for they knew their fate when they got to their destination. They were to be fed to the lycans. " Silas took a pause and filled his glass with a little more Johnny Walker Blue. "Ahh" said the young werewolf with a gleam in his eye. "if only I could have lived back then". "It's a good thing you probably didn't"said a serious Silas McCain. "Why is that?" snapped Dimitri. "I've heard of your exploits and I know you have tasted human blood". Your father has bailed you out many times." The young werewolf looked as if he was about to fly into a rage and Silas went on, "If you were alive then I would have had to hunt you and kill you". So be thankful you live in today's time for I'm sure Boris the 1st might not been able to save you". "YOU ARE NOTHING" screached Dimitri as he started to change into his lycan form. The Golden sword was out in a flash and up against the young werewolf's neck. The transformation ended abruptly and Dimitri took human form again. " Do that again" said and angry Silas McCain "and even my friendship with your father will not stop me from taking your head". Dimitri calmed down. "As I was saying before I was so rudely interupted. In following the wagon I found out that werewolves were not all loner berserkers but tightly knit clan with a leader or a Alpha Male as you like to call it. They had made a deal with the Romans. Give them the criminals and the lycans would stay in the mountains and no one would be the wiser. I come to find out that the lycans did not eat these crimininals but made lycans out of them. They had a choice, toe the line or be eaten. 99% chose to toe the line." "And the 1%?" asked Dimitri. "They were fed to lycans like you" said Silas. With that the young werewolf looked down. "You are the only human I know that can speak lycan" said Dimitri. "Being around 2000 years one learns lot" said a tired Silas. "I am going to sleep. If you got any ideas of seperating me from my blood I'd think twice if I was you" Silas said yawning.
They had a stop over in Paris. Silas didn't care much for the French. They had an attitude about them. They thought that if you are not French then you are almost substandard in their opinion. "The French and the Japanese should trade notes" thought Silas wryly. The two unlikley comrades had formed a semi-bond while they were on the train and were almost friends. Silas was not naive enough to believe that they had become true friends because he know that lycans only respect other lycans. He was sure if it came down to it the lycan prince would sacrifice him in a New York minute. Silas was tired. 2000 years of combating the most vile creatures on the planet had taken it's toll. Silas has had many things in his life. Money, women, adventure but he longed for the one thing he could not have...love. He could not connect with a woman for a multitude of reasons. One, he would outlive them and he wasn't sure if he could take the multiple deaths of his loved one's that would have to endure. Two, his life was so full of danger that he could not and he would not subject his loved one's to the risk that one of the monsters that he was battleing at the time would get to her. The life of Silas McCain was a lonely one and sometimes he wished that Armageddon would hurry up and happen so he could get it over with. He had decided to take a drink in a local tavern. Ordering the drink in French he sat and sipped on a red wine that was only made here. "The French do know how to make wine" he mused to himself as he enjoyed the taste and aroma. "Enjoying yourself?" came and unwelcome familiar voice. Silas whirled around ready to produce the blade but he stopped when he realized that Xavier was not on the offensive. "The master is not pleased with you and the scum lycan" he said as he took a sip out of a container that Silas knew was not liquor. "He does not take kindly to the lycan taking out his wolf guard" he said with malice in his eyes. "It's a canine thing" said Silas. "Now we have no one to guard us during the day. He could have let them be" said Xaivier. "The lycans still remember the purge of " 1755 said Silas. "If you think that the lycans are your friends think again for they are friends with no one and you of all "people" should know that". "If I were you I'd watch my back" said the vampire. "I would say the same for you also". All of sudden a howl broke out in the night and all the patrons rushed to the door to see what it was. Seeing nothing they all went back to their seats. Silas knew what it was and was going to have a talk with the young lycan prince when he got back to the train. "Werewolves are just as stupid as you vampires" said Silas with disgust. "It's a wonder they have survived this long". If the vampire heard it he didn't let on. The vampires and the lycans were not stupid enough to draw the anger of the Roman. Many a vampire and lycan had lost thier head to that cursed blade and Xavier did not want to be the newest victim. "The lycan has no idea whom he fights along side with, does he"? said Xavier. "No and I am not going to tell him" said an exasperated Silas. "Why are you here anyway"? the Roman said downing a new glass of wine. "The master wants me to go with you to make sure you do not variate from the mission" said the vampire taking a sip from his flask. The French bartender said something to him about bringing in outside refreshment and Xavier threw a wad of Francs at him and the bartender went away. "Rotgut sheeps blood" said Xavier with disgust. "What I wouldn't do for a nice taste of humanity" said the number 2 vampire. He got a look from Silas and he changed the subject. "How did you beat us here anyway"? said Silas. "I flew" said the vampire. Silsa knew what he meant. Vampires can change into bats and if he was human I am sure he would be tired but being undead Silas was sure that was not one of his problems. "To make sure you and the headstrong lycan do not make "mistakes" the master has decided that I will join you". Silas wasn't too thrilled about that. Vampires were lousy traveling companions because they only travel at night. On the other hand it gave him time to be away from the constant babbling and Silas at this moment was thankful for the sun. "Dimitri will be thrilled I'm sure" laughed Silas. "You need to keep that psycopath off of me" said the vampire with concern. "I'll tell you one thing I'm not going to do" said and irritated Silas McCain. "I am not going to babysit you two so you better keep it copesetic or I will have both of your heads" he said lighting a Cuban cigar and grinning like a Cheshire cat..Xavier knew he meant it and said nothing more, he wanted to keep his head. . "I have booked a cabin on the ship taking you to Canada" said Xavier. "See to it that the lycan stays away from me during the day will you" said Xavier with almost an apologetic look upon his face. "I will do my best"said Silas. "oh and by the way" said Xavier. "You wouldn't happen to have a taste would you"? If the average person heard this question he would have thought it to be some sort of drug. But Silas was not the average person and he knew what the vampire meant. "Well well well I just happen to have that right here" said Silas. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a vial and handed it to the eager vampre. But before the vampire could take it Silas's eyes got squinted with malice. "If I get no trouble from you will get more, If I do get trouble from you will have a hard time drinking it without your head". The vampire shook his head in agreement and took the vail. With that Xavier disappeared in the night. "Stupid ass vampires" thought Silas as he ordered another drink.
When Silas got back to the train he was in a fowl mood. He was too old to be dealing with these children. The lycantrope was proving to be a burden and he needed to nip this problem in the bud before it got out of hand. The wolfprince was sitting on in the seat with a satified look upon his face. This made Silas even more angry. "What the hell are you doing prowling the streets of Paris you stupid canine" snapped Silas. "You are going to ruin everything we are trying to accomplish. If the authorities get you while you're getting your canine jollies, I will be left alone with that idiotic vampire and if that happens I wont be there to get you out of it.I have half a mind to call the old man on you. "Here's the deal" said Silas gruffly. "We've got a third wheel coming on this trip". "Who"? said the look of a man when he knows he's gonna get screwed. "Xavier" said Silas. "NO" shouted Dimitri. "I will not trust my back to a stinking undead corpse. We are going to kill his "offspring" and he could stab us in the back so quick it will make our heads spin. Vampires are vampires" shouted the young lycanthrope. "Chill out" Silas's eyes got big. "I don't like it anymore then you do. Vlad doesn't trust us. Moreover, he doesn't turst you." smiled Silas grimly. "I have a debt to pay to the old bastard and so does your Father". "YOU LIE" shouted Dimitri. "My Father would never make deal with likes of him" and the werewolf spat to the ground. "In 1756" said Silas. Vampires and Werewolves were at war with each other. "War was starting to spill out to the local people. There were books coming out describing them to the local population and with minute detailed plans on how to kill them. "The problem with that" Silas looked the Dimitri in the eye " For the stupidity of youth and arrogance you will be subjected to a genocide of your species. The humans do not like monsters. That's what we are to them. said Silas. " They fear what they do not know. And if they fear you. it will not be long before you end up on one of their stakes." Silas walked to the window and said, "King Boris the Fifth made a deal with Vlad the Impaler. They would stop their war and have at least an uneasy truce. Dimitri looked down "When there is danger from the humans the werewolves made a promise to help each other if need be. Neither side liking it mind you" laughed Silas. Vlad has kept his promise and every King of the Lyconthropes up to King Boris the 9th your Father". "No" was all the werewolf said. "Yes, every king up to your father has kept the oath to Vlad and you will too if you become Boris the 10th. "How do you know of this" demanded Dimitri. "Who do you think got them together to talk things over"? "Me" said Silas pounding his finger on the serving table. " I dragged these two stupid kings to a meeting place and told them that if they did not stop it will be open season for vampires and werewolves. They both remember what happened to some nests and dens were located and the town was one less town not infeltraited by vampires and werewovles. They are not welcome guests." "I prevented that Genocide". They both went quiet. The young werewolf had gotten the point and said nothing. Instead, he carefully watched the old immortal. There were stories of him snapping and limbs and surprised faces would be shrewn across the crimson stained room. Silas started to walk away and turned around suddenly "Oh and one more thing" "Yes"? said the lycanthrope. The Golden Sword is at his throat in a heartbeat. "If you EVER and I mean EVER screw me or lie to me and put me in jeoprady I will add your head to the collection of stupid asses that came before you. "and before I do that I will skin you." shouted Silas McCain. "Now if you get your head out of your ass we can get this mission completed and you can go back to shouting at your C D and E's." "You owe it to yourself" said Silas menacingly. "Now that we have that out of the way" he said to a relieved Dimitri . . Good thing. The werewolf was hungry.
Slow boat to anywhere.
"Tetll me about yourself Roman" said Dimitri in a time of boredom. "I would like to know what makes you tick" he said picking his teeth. That was a bad habit werewolves had. They had an unshakable tendency to pick thier teeth for hours at a time after feeding. It was a idiosyncracy that Silas detested. "Why do you want to know"? said a bored Silas. They were on a boat to the new country as Dimitri called it. Some european habits die hard. "I am the crown prince and I'd like to know whom I'm dealing with". Dimitri's english was far better than his fathers. "First of all pup" said Silas. Dimitri's eyes closed. He did not like to be called a pup. "First of all I would prefer you call me Silas". The werewolf nodded. "You want to know? I'll tell you." "I am the Roman soldier that whipped the Christ. I looked into his eyes the whole time. There was something different about him then all the other prisoners that I had whipped and crucified. I didn't care much for the Pharasee's standing around and cheering it like it was sporting event. I respected loyalty and these Pharasse's had none. He didn't make a sound, he didn't even beg for his life. He just took it. All he said to me was "we will meet again my son" and they led him off to the crucifixian. His eyes never left me while they led him away. I saw him pass with the cross on his shoulder and even then his eyes never left mine. I went home to dinner. that night I started to have strange dreams. I was nursing a wound a prisoner had inflicted on me and I cursed him and thought to myself how I was going to make him pay come the morn. In my dreams a white figure came to me. It said to me that whipping the Christ calls for punishment. That my penence would be fighting evil whereever it existed. I woke up in the morning. My wound was gone. The next few weeks I had come to learn that no harm can be hurled upon me. I was ferocious in my fighting. The emperor was impressed. I would take wounds that would kill an ordinary man. And the next day I would show as if nothing had befalled me. The powers that be started to notice. The next thing I know I am pulled before a council and asked if I practice any of the dark magic. As I had begun to protest someone shoved a spear right through my heart. Realizing what the purpose was I began to run. Being the most feared Roman in the Empire had it's advantages. People moved out of my way as the guards chased me. I turned a corner into an alley and pulled the spear out. I could feel it heal. I ran as far as I could and went into the desert. They would not look for awhile. Romans hated the desert. I must have wandered for weeks in that horrible desert. Being immortal I didn't need food or water or rest. But all three looked pretty good right at that moment. About the 3rd week of walking I came upon an oasis. I rejoiced as I got closer. More joy turned to fright when the man in my dreams was standing under the palm tree in the middle of the oasis. He was waiting for me.
"The man in the white outfit told me who and what a I am. He told me the days of being a Roman soldier were finished. I was now a soldier of the Lord. I asked the man what he meant by that. He told me that all the stories of evil monsters told to us as children were true. When leaving heaven Lucifer was very angry and vengeful. He created foul creatures of all kinds and unleashed him upon God's favorite creation. Mankind. God rid the earth once of them during the great flood. But Lucifer whom God made very intelligent created more modern version." The days of the Giants and the old dieties were washed away. Lucifer created more flexible and more capable of stealth. Until now, there were no one to contain them. Our loving lord and master does not wish to destroy humanity again. And that is where you come in" he said with smile and a cool drink of water. "You will serve penence for whipping the Messiah. You will wander the earth and fight evil where you find it. You road will be a hard one. It will be full of danger. You will be judged come Judgement Day. Our Savior has given you a second chance. If I were you I'd take. The alternative is very painful. Believe me." "I thought it over. Never dying appealed to me. Fight the evil in the world did not. After about an hour I told him of my desision".. "I will take your offer" and the man in white smiled. A bright light came over the oasis. A light so bright that the Roman had to cover my eyes. Immediatley I was down on his knees and crying. A hand came through the light. The hand had wounds on it like one who has been crucified. I knew who it was and I wept further. "Go and save my children" the voice softley said and touched me. A wave of joy and purity washed over me. I had never been so happy in my life. The light disappeared and so did the feeling. "oh, the man in white said. "you're first client. I looked across the desert. And a werewolf that was hunting was running at full speed. Right for me.
"A werewolf, huh?" said Dimitri with his looking like he had eaten rotten food. "It had to be a werewolf" he grumbled. "Yes" said Silas with that sorry look in his eye.
"Well, what happened after that" said Dimitri already knowing the ending. "It's where I met Boris the first" said Silas laughing.Dimitri"s eyes lit up "So, Boris the first is not European" Dimitri said in more of a statement than a question. "No" said Silas. " I think he was Egyptian" said the Roman. "Boris and his clan didn't care much for the hot sun. He eventually moved to Eastern Europe where the climate is more suitable to his pack." "Why didn't he attack you" asked Dimitri. "When he got to me he was going to attack. After having witnessed from a distance what happened to me he slowed down and decided that caution was the best avenue to take. He turned into human form and stepped before me. Before the miracle happened to me I would have lopped off his head with hestitation. He thought I was another sacrifice given by the Romans. The Romans made a pact with the werewolves. They would give thiem their prisoners in exchange for the werewolves not poaching into their livestock and even worse their civilian population. The Emperor made a deal with Boris the first and I knew that if I was going to accomplish what I need to acomplish I would myself would have to make a deal with him also. He took me back to his camp and as I'm well assured you realise that I was not a welcome sight. At first they circled to attack me. They assumed that the king had brought them home a Roman sacrifice and that it was feeding time. But with a few well placed barks and howls from Boris the First they had come to quickly realise that the this indeed was not the dinner they had planned in thier minds. They were not thrilled about it but the obeyed. And rightly so. Over the years I had seen what Boris had done to those who chose to betray and disobey him. And it wasn't pretty". Dimitri shook his head in agreement "still happends today and still not pretty" he kinda laughed and growled. Knowing Dimitri Silas was sure he had been in on the punishment aspect and enjoyed it very much. Silas yawned. He didn't feel like talking about history anymore. Dimitri got the hint and settled into his bunk. The ship they were riding on was not as fast as the train and Dimitri expected he would get more insights on himself and his clan. After all if he was going to be King he has to know as much as he could to make decisions. He was not happy with his father. Kink Boris had left out many facts that should have been available to the succesor of his throne. "That's a bone to chew for a later date" thought the sleepy werewolf. "Oh and one thing I'd like to tell you. Not that it should mean anything to you. But I am not going to be Boris the Tenth". Silas's eyes widened waiting for it. "I am going to Dimitri the First" he said with defiant gleam in his eye. "I'm going to stay out of that" laughed Silas. "It would be for the best" yawned Dimitri. "As you say in America, Father is going to have to "deal" with it" and he turned off the lights and they both went to sleep. In the shadow a figure stood in the darkness watching the immortal and the lycanthrope sleep. He thought to himself maybe if he killed the werewolf and captured the immortal so the master could feed as he wished he would be heavily rewarded. A smile came onto his undead face. And a voice came out of the darkness....."Go get your your own compartment Xavier. This one is full" said Silas McCain. Hissing the vampire disappeared. "Stupid Vampires" muttered the werewolf. "I know.Right?" said the Silas and they went off to the sandman.
Lages Field, Azores
Lucas was glad to be off the boat. He had not fed in awile and the mood was getting fierce on the ship. A couple of them even wanted to cannabalize thier fellow vampires. That made even Lucas sick to his stomach. They were now shark food. He motioned his so called second in command Charles to make a sweeping circle of the small village on this puny island. The sun went down about an hour ago and Lucas could still feel it's heat. The ordeal in the Phillipines had been a hunger satisfying adventure but he walked away from it with intrepidation and a small amount of fear. A few of his fellow vampires got a little careless and fed beyond the line that Lucas had ordered. Feeding them to the sun was a momentary fix for his uneasiness. Now he knew that Vlad would catch wind of him and send his minions to destroy him. On this island the mission was clear. Feed only when you can be unobserved and kill any vampire you come in contact with. "Make sure the sun starves today" he shouted to Charles. Charles merely shook his head. He need not ask. He knew. Failure meant the sun. They had come across a drunk walking down the street. In a movement quicker than the human eye could follow they swept him into an alleyway. Lucas fed first of course. And when he had his fill the others would swoop on the victim to get what measly droppings the master had not consumed. With the sound of sucking and smacking and growling over the body Lucas looked out for non welcome intruders or...another meal. When the vampires had drained the body dry. They still had a look of hunger upon thier faces. More than one body was need to sustain their blooddesire. So they had to roam around the small villiage in search of safe prey. Lucas looked around and did a head count. He failed to do that in the Phillipines and now he might have to deal with Vlad. Or worse. Humans. And noticed one of them missing. This angered Lucas. He had to interupt his feeding to watch over this fool. In the speed a vampire can move he searched the village and came upon Timothy in a house terrorizing a family. He listened to thier screams and soaked in the sweet terror. The sounds of their mortal fear made him drunk as though it was alcohol. He enjoyed this too much to interfere.
Inside the house the vampire that had taken over the Rodrieguz house had already fed upon the Alpha Male. The father of the house laid in the center of the room beheaded and drained of his life fluid. And just as Timothy turned to feed upon the succulent wife and children. Lucas burst into the house and shouted "What is the meaning of this fool" he bellowed fangs bared. Timothy knew he was in trouble. He wandered outside the feeding circle and he was going to be fed to the sun. "I couldn't help myself" said the sad vampire. "You are going to ruin everything" shouted the leader. Meanwhile, the wife and kids are huddled in the corner in a brace of fear. They watched the Dad get savagely attacked by the monster. And now another monster has joined him. They prayed to God with all thier might and cryed for thier lives. "They are all yours" said a frightened Timothy. "Oh yes they are" Lucas smiled. With a swipe of his clawed hand the head of Timothy went rolling to the floor. It still had a surprised look on it's face and it tumbled over to the frightened family in the corner. "Yes they are" he said with an evil look in his eyes as he approched the screaming family. Outside about a mile down the road the family's screams echoed in the darkness. A vampire called a number that he had only called once before in his existance. "I wish to speak with Vlad" he waited a moment and a voice came on the telephone "Yes?" said and impatient voice. "They are in Lajes my lord" said the frightened vampire. They are using more stealth here. One got away from him and attacked a local family. "His undoing" said a calm Vampire King. They are also hunting vampires. They don't want us to ta..." and the voice turned into a garbled scream and the old Vampire could hear the attacking horde slashing and killing the vampire. Vlad hung up his phone. He looked at his aid who trembled in fear and told him to feed Andres to the sun and get Xavier and the Roman on the phone. "Yes, my lord" and the rat faced vampire scrurried away.
It was morning on the Atlantic Ocean. Silas and Dimitri had gone to the galley and had a good breakfast. The crew kitchen looked at each other in amazement and disgust watching Dimitri gobble down three bloody steaks. Silas's Eggs Benedict was superb. As they walked out of thier breakfeast one of the crew mentioned very quietly that he hoped Silas kept that one on a leash. Silas just laughed and made it a point to himself to tell the wolfprince AFTER they had left the ship. Silas didn't want to take a chance on Dimitri being a hothead and then there would be alot of explaining to the captain and the authorities what happened to the ship's kitchen crew. Silas had looked up the cabin that Xavier was staying in and he and Dimitri had decided to pay Vlad's vassel a visit. Normally Silas would have taken care of the intrusion on the spot but he was tired and he could tell Dimitri was tired as well. He decided to take care of his problem come daylight when the vampire would be at his weakest.
The stupid vampire left his door unlocked. You'd think that being 300 years old that Xavier would have more common sense. Tisking to himself he and Dimitri opened the cabin door. The vampire awoke with the noise. But before he could move the wolfprince in lupen form had him pinned to the bed. Silas came out of the darkness and the vampire hissed at him. "The master will have your head for this" he spat. " I doubt that" said Silas calmly. "Now my friend here" the the big man went on " would love nothing more than to rip you to shreds and feed you to the sharks." The vampire said nothing. " But I know you are Vlad's boy and having a war with Vlad is not on our list of priorities at this time" smirked Silas. "But".. said the Roman as he made his way to the window. "A lesson must be learned for the betterment of our quest". The big man opened the curtains just a crack. The small amount of light that came into the room hit the vampire on his cheek. The vampire screamed. The UV rays were cutting a path of burnt skin across the anquished vampire's face. "I was just trying to find out information" screamed the vampire as Silas let in another beam of light. "We are going up against a very dangerous adversary and I want to make sure I don't have a deceptive vampire stabbing me in the back" Silas said as he made a ring mark on the vampire's face by way of a violent backhand. "I say we feed him to the sharks" said Dimitri with a light of menace and blooddesire in his eyes. Silas looked at him as though he were ten years old and said "do you want to have war between ya"? The werewolf said nothing. Silas was not looking forward to this prince becoming King Boris. Surprisingly, the werewolf took his claws away from the vampire's throat. He was going to follow Silas's lead. "If you want to know something. Knock and ask like any other ally that I have. Do not sneak around me you undead piece of fecal matter. Or I will give you to the hot headed prince" Silas said pointing to the salavitationg werewolf."I promised the vampire pleaded. "I am only following the masters orders" said Xavier. "Are the masters orders to doublecross me and the prince"? shouted an enraged Silas McCain. The vampire looked down in shame and defeat and said "No". They let go of thier grip on the vampire and headed to the door. "I"m going to let you sleep. When you wake up come and see me". The vampire nodded happy that he would be left alone to slumber. Silas cracked the window and a ray of light hit the wall making the vampire jump out of the way. "Remember" said Silas. "Remember..." repeated back softer because they were leaving. While Silas and Dimitri walked down to the deck Silas's cell phone rang. "Hello?" "They have attacked Lajes field Azores" came a gruff voice on the other end. "I'll check it out. We are supposed to stop there". said Silas. "You do that" said the voice and hung up. Silas was going to have show old Vlad a thing or two about phone ettiquette. Dimitri turned his head in anticipation. "We are on the right track Dimitri. They fed in Lajes Azores. We have to make a stop there.". Thinking Silas finished the werewolf turned to do something else. "Oh and another thing....they are killing vampires and werewolves as well". That set a fire under the werewolf's kiester.
Xavier visited the safe house in the city of Lajes. It was empty. This house was an active house. Vlad had made a deal with the Portugan authorities to look the other way and his people would only feed on animals and the occasional criminal that deserved it. They had kept their promise and have lived on this island for over two hundred years. They even mingled with the civilians. Thier transition was a successul one. But now the house was empty. The vampires that inhabited it were all dead now. Killed by the vampire hoard that slowly made it's evil way to the New World. Xavier was angry. He had only heard the stories he was of course angry with the interlopers but now he had seen it in person. He took out his cell phone and called the master.
Dimitri stood in the wooded enclave and scanned the field shrown with the bodies of his brethren. They had no idea it was coming. The vampires fed. They did not turn any of them. The bodies of the werewolves were all decapitated. The damn vampires chewed off their heads while they fed. The anger in him welled to a boil. He let out a howl of pain and anger. All of a sudden flashlights started flickering in the woods. "Hunters" thought Dimitri his heart racing. He made a dash for it.He could hear the dogs bark. They were hunting as if he were a fox. He ran through the shrubs and the valleys and crevaces and after about a half an hour he started to tire. He sat and relaxed andcaught his breath. Guns cocked and a light shown on him. They had him. They had unknowingly captured the prince of the werewolves. The lead hunter came out of the woods and instantly recognised whom he had in his trap. With a shout of joy he called the others out and they proceeded to surround him. Changing into his lupen from only pushed them further into a frenzy. They all had poles and they took turns swiping at him. One man had a pole with a rope at the end of it. This device was meant to corral the beast and then subdue it. Dimitri fought with all of his might and had even taken out one or two of them and they dogpiled him. He was on the ground and they put the rope around his neck. They put him to his feet. They pulled out a Machete and postitioned his head to make the seperation. Then out of the darkness he heard the sound of an airgun going off. "Pop, Pop, Pop" and one dart after another went into the shoulders of the hunters. And one by one they drifted of to drug induced slumber. Dimitri wasted no time and slipped away. Silas McCain put the gun back in it's holster and merely shook his head. "I can't take my eyes off of you for a second can I"? The wolfprince shook his head in appreiciation and lopped off.
Canada
The Canadian customs people were pretty lax. He had gotten his sword through customs without a hitch. Silas was glad for that. Vampire heads rolled nicely off of Excalibur. Silas had rented a car in Nova Scotia. Xavier made a phone call and they had a car. "Master has fingers in everybodies pie" he said with a shrug. The ride to Goose Bay was about 8 hours and they had to make time. The boat they traveled on did not port in Goosebay like he had hope. They had instead gotten off in Halifex Nova Scotia. They had eight hours to make it to Goose Bay. The vampires that planned to invade it were probably sleeping now and getting ready for the big night. Silas let Dimitri drive. Though he scared them and drove real fast he seemed to have a way with automobiles. They should make it there in no time. He should hope so for the citizens of Goose Bay. If they miss them this time. It will take almost a miracle to find them again. Canada was a big country.
They were playing with a victim. When they arrived at Goosebay they were not greeted by any of Vlad's people and that made them thankful and a little bit reckless. They had kidnapped a women on the way to thier rented safe house. Lucas was brooding while he watched the vampires pass the human around. One would put fangs to a neck and got enough blood to get a rush and had her off to another pair of waiting fangs. It was gorey and bloody. Just the way Lucas liked it. Being a vampire for him was a rewarding expierience. He closed his eyes and dreamed of the warm flowing blood and the screams of his enemies and his victims. The local vampire population were not even aware of thier presence. That should make it very easy indeed. If Lucas had his way he and his co-horts would vanquish the population of vampires and he and his kind would be the only one's left and Lucas...Not Vlad would be the king of the Vampires. After that is completed, he would make the humans into cattle and the vampire will have it's rightful place on the throne of the world. The sun will be down in three hours. Lucas layed back and rested. Meanwhile...four hours away in a rented car. "whooooooooooooooo" came the sound out the window and shouts of "Shut up" and "Stupid werewolf" came emulating out of the car.
Xavier was not happy he had to ride in the trunk. "We can't let the sunlight getcha" laughed Dimtri. Silence came from the back. Silas did the old vampire a favor and gave him a couple of vials of his blood. This made the vampire a little happier. The vampire would push the back seat down to talk to them. And Silas could tell that Xavier had indeed drank of the blood. His face was not so pale. He had rosey cheeks. He looked like a healthy human. "That stuff is gold to them huh Roman" said the werewolf. Silas just merely shook his head. "I can see why they let you live" the lycanthrope said with an evil gleam in his eye. "Yeah and this" Silas produced Excalibur. "Yeah, and that" said the mocking wolf. They arrived in Goosebay with an hour to spare. They could see the sun starting to make it's decent on the horizon. "Get ready you two, it's almost game time" and Silas steeled himself for the upcoming battle. "And you wolf, what do you have in mind"? said Silas. "I've got a secret weapon" grinned the prince. That made Silas nervous.
Blood in the snow
Lucas was exilleratated. He and his fellow marauders were going enjoy the first feed in the new world. The new world was better than old Europe. People in Europe believed in vampires while the North americans put funny pictures up on Halloween and made vampires glamourous. This made Lucas happy. If Vlad didn't get him tonight then he would never get him. The first one they came across was a policeman. Lucas had him. The others had to watch. And they became quite vocal about not being able to feed. With a hiss and a show of fangs Lucas made his point clear to back off and let him feed. He raised his head from his meal and in the middle of the street stood a figure. It had no weapon. It just stood there. With a gasp of hunger a young vampire ran straight for the lone figure. Lucas tried to stop him but to no avail. When the young vampire got to the lone figure a hand or claw if you will went straight through his chest. The dark figure picked up the vampire and hoisted it up over his head. With a howl the figure reached up with it"s other hand swiped the vampire"s head off. The head fell to the ground with look of shock on it's face. Lucas looked up from the head and could see the figure more clearly now. It was a werewolf. But what suprised Lucas was that the lycanthrope turned back into a human. "I am Crown Prince Dimitri. Son of Boris the 9th. You have comminted crimes against your own kind and werewolves alike. I am here to met out punishment on my father's behalf.". Silas ran up next to Xavier and said "What is he doing? He was supposed to hide until I gave my signal. Now we are made and going to have to fight". "See what you get when you get a stupid werewolf to do a vampires job"? said Xavier with a disqusted look upon his face. Five or six vampires made thier way to the werewolf. Dimitri was very impressive. the first two that got to him he took out with ease. But as is the case of the numbers game they started to overwhelm him. Just as they were about to set thier fangs into him a voice shot out of the darkness. "Enough" the vampires turned to look and it was Xavier coming out of the shadows. "You will stop in the name of King Vlad" he said with pomp. They stopped and looked at Lucas how laughed and said "Tell Dracula that we thought about it and decided ...No. Is this all he sent? Is this the great team of vampire slayers?" He looked at Xaivier "change sides and we wont feed you to the sun" he said with great seriousness and clarity. "No, it is not all he sent" said another voice coming out of the shadows. This time Lucas did not laugh. Silas stepped out of the alleyway to reveal himself. It was a different story now that it has been revealed that the Roman has also joined the hunt. the vampires scattered in fear.
Lucas had not expected this. Vlad liked to keep his business in house. "I must be really worrying him to send the Roman" thought Lucas. Lucas decided that the numbers game would have to be stepped up a notch. He turned to Charles and told him to tell everyone to turn as many as they could. While the Roman was busy fighting the new confused vampires he and his co-horts could slip out of town. In the pale moonlight one could see the vampires slowly turning Goose Bay Canada into a nest of vampires. There were policemen vampires, there were little old lady vampires, there were construction worker vampires and the worse kind. Children vampires. All of them headed for the middle of town. Xavier looked at Silas and Dimitri and told them to go. "I've got this". We cannot kill all these vampires. I will hold them so you can track Lucas and his gang". The new vampires made thier way up to Xavier. Most were confused and not sure how to deal with the hunger that boiled up inside them. Before Silas and Dimtri turned to leave Xavier grabbed Silas by the shoulder and held out his claw. "The vials please" he said looking into Silas's eyes. Grudgingly Silas handed over his last supply of blood vials. Xavier turned to the newly created vampires and told them to stop. And they did. "Must be a vampire thing" said Dimitri. "More like a new batch of vampires delivered to the count. This made the werewolf laugh. "Don't get too comfortable" Silas glared at Dimitri. "If it wasn't for you we would still have stealth on our side and these people would not be condemned to a life if that's what you want to call it of being undead." The werewolf just grunted and said "I told you, I have a secret weapon". "Well your secret weapon better work. At best Goosebay Canada will be open to the world and vampires will have to avoid the hunters". "And the the bad part"? said Dimitri. "We all get fed upon and the werewolves will have to find a new crown prince". Silas and Dimitri both ran down the alleyways and the back yards hoping to catch up to the vampire horde. Along the way they encountered a few newly formed vampires and brushed them aside. He tried to make Dimitri not kill them but a few got away from him. Oops! The werewolf would hold up his hands in apology. All he got was a glare from the Roman. "Lucas is mine" said Silas. "No problem" said Dimitri. "I want another shot at these creeps" said the wolfprince. "Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like the last time" said Silas. "Secret weapon" was all the werewolf said running away. They had the vampires cornered in a industrial plant.
Silas spotted Lucas. He was running fast. He was outpacing the others because he was the only one that fed. He was fast. Almost faster than the eye could see. But Silas was fast too. Soon Silas had him penned in an alleyway. Lucas had decided it was time to stop running and time to start fighting. A right hook took Silas upside his head.It sent Silas to one knee. Vampires, Silas had forgotten were very fast and very strong. Silas could barely follow Lucas. The only time he saw anything was when Lucas struck him. Silas had to come up with a solution to his problem and quick. He pulled out Excalibur and when a movement came he took a swing. Lucas avoided that. He also avoided the others. Lucas was getting the best of the Roman. Silas reached into his pocket and drank from a vial. When the next blow came he went down on his back. Lucas sensing a victory was at hand made a swooping yell and headed straight for the living giving blood. He had heard about the blood of this one and he wanted a taste. As the vampire stood over him to claim his blood victory Silas spat the liquid he had drank from the vail in Lucus's face. "Holy Water" gasped the vampire and he got up on his feet and started to swipe at his face to get the unclean water from his face. The damage had been done. His face started to boil and steam. Silas stood up over him and said a prayer in Latin. This made the vampire even more vulnerable. And with a final prayer Silas McCain ended the life of the most feared vampire on earth second to Vlad. Lucas's head rolled down the dirty alleyway.
Dimitri told them to come on. He had his hands in come here gesture. The vampires knew they had to defeat this wolfprince or they would probably not live to see another nightfall. They surrounded the werewolf and were about ready to strike when a head came out of the alleyway. It was the head of thier leader Lucas. They were in a bad postion. They all got crazy and started to charge the two. Dimitri let out a howl that could be heard in Paris. Off in the distance Silas could hear a bark and a howl and then more barks and more howls. These barks and howls got closer and closer and before one could shake a stick the place was crawling with werewolves. In a barking order Dimitri told them to dispactch of the circle of vampires only. The Werewolves made short work of the vampires. Limbs were being taken off, head plopped to the ground the screams that came out of the vampires was poetic justice for the many screams they had caused in their quest for blood. It took about 5 minutes and when it was done. The werewolves looked towards Silas. Silas pulled out his sword and was ready. A loud barking interupted the impending attack. "Back up now" the prince barked. The werewolf prince stepped in front of Silas and the others backed off. "Don't think you saved my life Dimitri" said Silas. Exalibur and I would have managed nicely.
"I did it for them" growled the werewolf. He then barked and told them since there would be no more humans here for awhile they were free to sample the livestock. This seemed to do the trick and with a bow and oath of allegance they ran off to the fields where their prey grazed. They could hear the animals shout in terror as he made thier way back to Xavier. "Nothing is done for free. Not even the Crown Prince" said Dimitri. When Silas and Dimitri had gotten back to Xavier the old vampire had fed them(and himself of course) a vail of the precious immortal blood. They looked human and they were in dissarray. Off in the distance a pair of lights could be seen flickering off the horizon. As the lights got closer and brighter it could be seen that what was coming was a bus. The bus had blackened windows on it along with it's black paint job. "Vlad doesn't mess around" thought Silas. A pale skinned man with a clipboard his hands motioned over to the townspeople that had just been turned. He took down thier infromation and one by one they boarded the bus. Silas walking over to Xavier motioned with his head towards the bus. "They will be taken and processed. We can't have strays running loose can we?" "No, I guess not" said Silas McCain shaking his head.Without so much as a thank you or a goodbye Xavier got on the bus. He turned to Silas for one last word. "By the way Roman, My lord wishes you to call him" and he got on the bus. "How do we explain to the Canadian authorities the empty town?" wondered Silas out loud. "That's easy" said Dimitri. With a wave of his hand the werewolf pack that had terminated the vampires slowly made thier way into town. "We just give the empty house to these individuals. They have been living in the woods for so long it would be a welcome treat for them to be living in civilized housing again". "And you?" said Silas. "I"m going to stay here and be there king. There is no rule in the world that says there can't be two werewolf kings." boasted the former wolf prince. "And you father?" said Silas. "My younger brother would be more then happy to become Boris the XXI" " So, everybody wins. that is except the humans of course." Dimitri just gave him a look and said nothing. "I don't know if you noticed but over there in the distance we are being watched as we speak. " he said nodding over to the treeline. This figure had not ecscaped his notice. "I think this place is inhabited by more than werewolves and vampires. The creature that was staring at them had yellow hungry eyes. Silas rolled his eyes. He was too tired to be dealing with a new thing already. "Don't worry bout us" said Dimitri. I don't even think Wendigo's are stupid enough to attack a whole town full of werewolves. "Wendigo" the word flashed in Silas's mind. He knew that someday down the road he would deal with this creature. But today was not the day. He turned to get in his car. Dimitri put a hand on his should. "I still don't care much for you Roman. To me, you're just another bad smelling human. But for a human you are ok. That favor you did for me in the Azores? You have one coming in returen. Choose wisely Roman because you only get one." With that he made his way to the other werewolves that were going to inhabit this desolete Canadian town. As he drove away here could hear "All hail King Dimitri the first". With a mock smile and a need for rest Silas McCain put his foot to the pedal and formulated a plan to do so. Meanwhile...the yellow eyes watched.
