Childhood

Childhood

So time left me wondering about childhood. How my fingers moved about the hot sand and I can still see the tentacles of the giant octopus caressing the shore. It was there where the waves always brake that I saw you, walking slightly tilted to the right, your fine moustache and your squalid legs. How wonderful you were with your tempestuous laughter. How frightened  when you surrounded me with your arms and tickled me until I would collapse, pleading to you to let me live alone on the beach. He said," I will go with you a little further , there, and he pointed,  where the sand castle sleeps, sleeps to let soldiers and generals go .

Who would want to eat in their company? You took my hand and left something inside it and closed my hand as if you had left a pearl, a tiny priceless pearl. I should have known what it was. I smiled suspiciously and held on to your swimming costume. "I will not let you go ". So, you said "my darling stay with me a little longer but do not wake up the giant octopus". I opened my eyes with horror and I saw his hands shaking. "The octopus is my friend, dad". I comforted him.

He walked fast leaving me behind. He turned back and I knew he could see how much I have grown and that I would not run after him. I shouted, "Hey".

He tried to hear me by moving his head slightly forwards.

I shouted again. "You forgot my kiss".

He then took a pile of sand, kissed it, and let it go.
