Day of a Nurse

Like 0 Pin it 1Once there was a nurse.. Who started her career by loving all patients, full of compassion and empathy.. Eager to learn, to help, to heal. Somewhere along the 10 year stretch.. Things began to go downhill, feelings fade. Lost interest. She's not sure where it began.. Ton thought back over the past year and a half... Overworked and underpaid, discriminated by race, discriminated against sexually by a supervisor, alcohol found in the facility with no repercussions, favoritism, financial abuse, physical abuse and sexual abuse. Mtiple interviews with the State of California. Program changed to computers, which after 8 hours, where is the time left for patient care? To hold their hand? To listen to their stories from their past? To laugh at their joke? Oh no... Wait.. What if someone falls? Or has a heart attract? No time does not stop, it's never ending, with only her to care and finish the job. Then by the time she gets home, she's exhausted from walking up an down checking on 25 patients, being cussed out or hit or spit on by patients. The endless gossip feels her ears.. Which supervisor is sleeping with which employee? Dietary? Maintenance? Nursing? Patients "hitting" on her. Some of the most uncomfortable situations ever... She gets home with no extra time for her own family, just enough to kiss them good night and whisper "she loves them" into their ears. All the while, trying her best to maintain her own sanity. Nursing in 2015 is NOT what it appears to the outside eye...
