Death

He seemed to welcome the harsh embrace of death as it wrapped its cold arms around him, and covered him in its cloak. His breath left his lips for the last time, as his skin turned cold.
He was now one with death. He no longer needed the body that housed his soul. He felt nothing as he lost sight of what he once was. He felt no pain, or anger, or happiness, nor did he feel the deep sadness which had encased his being for so many years.
He felt nothing.
Where was that peace he had longed for, he was simply a shell that housed his memories, which brought no emotion to his soul. He had become void of emotion, void of everything he had once been, void of everything that had once made him human.
Suspended in space, he floated around for eternity, asking himself why he had looked for death. There were no golden skies, there was no warm sun, no rolling hills, no splashing waves, just cold darkness.
He now longs for the life he had, as he floats in the dark nothingness that engulfs him.
