Dragon's Eyes
Dragon’s Eyes
Hi, my name is Ivory, so named as my scales are white as can be. With eyes as blue as the sky reflecting off the shimmering seas. As I fly, I can see for miles straight to the horizon.  Some wonder what it would be like to see through a dragon’s eyes, well I’m going to paint you a picture of what I see.Â
When I first open my eyes at dawn, I see the faint glow of the sun peaking just over the edge of the work. Light dances over my cave as I smile, what a beautiful sight to see upon waking. I push myself off my belly as my dazzling diamond claws scrap the floors of den, stretch and flex my wings, and stride to the opening to peer out over the rolling hills and majestic mountains.Â
On some days it is so warm that I decide to fly over to the grand bodies of water a ways to the south. So, drop from my perch, barreling for the ground and then… just at the last second, I expand the leather wingspan. I slightly tilt and I’m on my way, floating through the as if nothing can hurt me. The landscape changes; I pass the hills, the mountains, swamps, and forests. I gaze in wonder at the small specks of animals I see below me.Â
Sometimes I barely see them and forget they are there, at times I want to go down and explore but I fear it would be dangerous. I just stick to occasionally going out at now and finding the creatures that feed on the villages food source as not to upset the humans that could otherwise mean me harm. If I leave them alone, they usually leave me alone and even offer my protection as a bonus.
Anyway, as I come up to my favorite swimming whole I smile. I try not to vain, but even I am taken aback by the sight I see, on days like today the sun does wonders for my beauty. I fly over the water and am mesmerized by the way it reflects, making it seem as though I’m not only as white as my name suggest, but also glimmering with bright purples and blues as if the scales themselves were made of jewels. It was truly a sight to see and possibly why the people seem to love my so much.
As I swoop down to bathe in the cool waters it seems as though I’m as big the area itself. But, the closer I get I become swallowed in the embrace as it has missed me as much as I did it. I soak up the sun and dive for fish. (my favorite by the way) A lot of the times I’ll spend all day there, until the last rays are shinning in the twilight sky. So, I leap out of the water and head to the north for a night hunt.
On most nights, the air is cool. I love the feeling of the wind rushing over me I often lose myself. In the dark a dragon’s eyesight impeccable, but we don’t just see clearly, we see in a cornucopia of colors. Its like our vision hyper focused on the bioluminescence that is coving the entire world that most just don’t have the capacity to see. My favorite land food is the wolves, although sometimes it pains me to eat them as they are so beautiful. During the day you have your normal wolf colors, which are pleasing as it is, but at night it elevates their beauty tenfold. Still, the numbers of wolves in the area have gotten out of control and are starting to kill not only villages animal food supply but also the villagers. So, as I said before, it is my job to take care of the problem as well as get a good meal.Â
By the end of the hunt I am tired and ready for a good night’s sleep so it’s time to head back home. My thoughts wonder as I return, my brain is already half asleep and I don’t focus on much of anything else. At this point I settle back into the now pitch-black den, curl up in a tight ball, and drift off to sleep with the thoughts of yet another wonderful day of being a dragon. And seeing through dragons’ eyes…… THE END
