The Easter Lie

That last look over Jerusalem, gave Jesus a sorrow no earthly being outside of Himself could know. The Great I AM, Who laid hold on time long enough to enter it with purpose, comforted His disciples, all the while knowing in a short while he would need comfort notwithstanding seeing them scatter from him in every direction. Only Jesus character would give proof of His being even if in His face there was no acclaim that would draw anyone to him, so much so, it would take a kiss from one of his own to seal his fate as a common criminal.
It was that dinner at Simon the leper, that gave the distraction to the devil that was needed to set in motion the final moves for Jesus. A woman broke in on the house crowd, and made a B line to Jesus and pored her living on his feet and dried the oil with her hair. It would be to his disciples the biggest mistake up to the time. Judas went away with what was needed to finally betray Jesus before he could do anything more to disgrace himself or them. After the meal and ordeal, Jesus takes them all to the upper room to prepare for the pass over, and then starts to wash their feet. What was wrong with Jesus, and why was he acting this way. Finally, Jesus takes them to the mount to pray one last time. But the disciples were not in the mood for prayer, what transpired that day was more then their hearts could endure, and sleep was about the best cure for the worries that flood their minds. But Jesus was feeling the weight of guilt that now began to press him so. God is Holy, and His Word is law, and that law had been broken, therefore the wages of Sin is death.
The Son of God came to answer the charges of the law. And while the disciples slept between the mod that were coming and the God who was asking the atoning price for men, if they were to be spared, watched on with a careful gaze.  With the disciples sleeping, God the Father watching, and the mob coming, Jesus pleaded one time more, if it was another way to spare men from the coming wrath for a broken law. God said no, and right there in the garden of Gethsemane Jesus sealed his fate to pay for the law to be fixed and God be just.
Yes I am He said Jesus to the mob that came for him in the darkness, but it would take a kiss to be sure, for Jesus had no cuteness about him that would cause the king in him to be known. Only the kiss of a betrayer would be enough for the mob to lay hands on him whom they sort. He who came to uphold the law, and die because others disobeyed it, now finds himself being judged by men who knew nothing of law or its order. Beneath the gaze of him who ones was the Commander of the Heavenly host, now finds himself in the clutches of mean men and their desire to be first even before God.
Like sheep that were scattered, the disciples, hurry as for higher ground, but none could be found so they settled for a deeper darkness that could cover their fainting hearts. Only moments before they assured Jesus that they would be willing to die with him and or for him, but trial has a way of proving all things. Now Jesus must be proved, he must show that he is up for the challenge of obeying the law of God even if men accuse him falsely. And like the king he is, Jesus simply answers the only question that would seal his fate to a cross. Are you the Son of God. Yes!
Picked out from the crowd by the kiss of a friend, now Jesus stumbles through the streets of Jerusalem in blood. A curse before God, for cursed be any one who dies on a tree, and here the Son of God is marched through the streets with a tree on his back, not only in shame, but for a price too far beyond what any there could understand. No, he did not complain, even when it was clear the Father would except his resignation, and there without knowing whether or not it would be enough, Jesus hung his head and died.
Jesus lay dead in a tomb, for the law, and men and women praise him on Easter in honor of his resurrection without honoring the law he died to sanctify. What a pity when the angel called the Son of God from the tomb, Jesus took the time to fold up his grave clothes, and sit them neatly on the spot where ones he lay dead, and come forth to live forever more. Its a lie to think the law was done away, yet notwithstand the death of Jesus, men and women are more excited about his resurrection then they are about the death that signifies that the law is unchangeable...and unending... the death of Jesus is not freedom from the law, but a sweeter call to keep it!
