Hello?

The scent of rain lingers in the air, lightning streaks across a blackened sky. Walking down a desolate dirt road, I anticipate the coming storm. There is no other living soul around for miles. The rain begins to fall. Slowly at first, then harder, the wind whipping my long, chestnut colored hair around me in a frenzy. This is what i've been waiting for. What I needed. A storm on the outside to match the one that constantly rages on the inside. Within seconds I am soaked, but I care not. I pull my MP3 player out of my pocket, slip the headphones on, and try to find a song to match my mood. "Ahh... Perfect" I mutter, asĀ Evanescence begins blaring in my ears, and I put it on repeat.
Playground school bell rings, again. Rain clouds come to play, again. Has noone told you she's not breathing? Hello? I'm your mind giving you someone to talk to. Hello? If I smile and don't believe, soon I know i'll wake from this dream.
I come upon a bridge and know that this is the spot. I can hear the water raging underneath me. Lightning streaks across the sky, illuminating the water for a split second. Long enough though, that I am able to see the jagged rocks protruding menacingly.
Don't try to fix me i'm not broken. Hello? I'm the light living for you so you can hide. Don't cry. Suddenly I know i'm not sleeping. Hello? I'm still here, all that's of yesterday.
I climb, and stand on the edge of the bridge. Throwing my arms out wide, embracing the violent storm, I lean my head back, close my eyes and smile. I turn off my MP3 player, and pull the headphones out of my ears, so I can listen to the distant rumble of thunder, the rain falling all around me, and the wind howling it's mournful serenade. I have never felt more at peace. As I slip my MP3 player into my pocket, I wonder if he is at all concerned about me. "Hah! As if he actually cares." I say aloud, angrily, but my words are carried off with the wind. This is not a time for talking. I push my anger at him aside, and try to lose myself in the moment. The night is mine, the storm is for me and me alone. I sigh, and raise my face to the heavens. I then plunge myself into the raging water.

He will always care. Protecting your heart from afar, hidden amongst the shadows. Never to let you fall.
If you say so, dear
