Hidden Secrets

  The door closed loudly behind me as I walked across the foyer. The lights were dim and the hallways were dark and I could feel my heart beating faster and faster inside my chest as I made my way down the eerie corridor of the mansion. At the end of the hall was a red door with a golden handle. I just couldn't help myself, so I slowly turned the handle, the door made a loud screech. When I walked inside it was dark and in the middle of the room was a small chest. I walked over to it and I tried to see if I could open it. On the front was a huge lock attached to a chain that was wrapped around the chest. I looked around for something strong to break the lock, but the only thing I could find was a little screwdriver. I grabbed it and with all my strength I bashed it against the lock. The chains fell to the floor with a clank! I slowly lifted both sides of the chest lid and I opened it very slowly, but I kept one eye open, hoping nothing would jump out and scare me. When it opened, inside was a folded up piece of paper and attached to it was a small gold key. I opened the paper and it read, "here is the key to the mysteries, if you are to find the door, you'll  have not the will to resist my power." "If whosever gives into the power of the stone, they soon face there never ending fate."On the very bottom was a frightening message that read, "you don't know the dangers that lie ahead, come if you are willing." I was so much as curious, but I was scared as well. I put the letter and the key in my pocket and then closed the chest. Then I quietly walked out of the room and again down the dark hallway. When I got to the door I stopped for a second and thought about what I had just read. I thought to myself, "is this true?" "Should I follow the letter and face my fate or should I walk out and pretend it never happened?" I pondered those questions for a few minutes and then I decided that I should just go home and figure it out later. I reached for the handle, but the door did not open. I shook the handle and banged on the door, but still no positive results. I was now trapped inside a haunted house and I knew that I was never to see the light of day.
