Story -

Highly Anticipated Day

It was a highly anticipated day. I had been sick and confined to bed for about two years I'd say. My mom was 76 on that hot Texas sultry day.  We took off leaving early to give us plenty of time so we wouldn't be late.  Parking in the reserved parking lot I knew I could make the short walk. We were both ecstatic thinking about the show we had long been waiting for.

Standing in line we were chatting with the crowd. My mom was saying I'm 76 years old and others that heard her turned around to join in the WOW's.  She had been a fan for just a few years. She'd come to my house putting his music on my stereo for me to listen to for at least a good year.

So we made it inside under the canopy in the shade.  Down to the end of the rows our seats on row B the 2nd row from the stage.  The show started with anxious looks from both of us standing in front of the crowd. With a bang from fireworks there he was on a platform high above the stage.  Eagle flag hung in front of him with a light making a silhouette his arms stretched out to his sides.  He said a prayer for us to have a rocking good time and a safe drive home for everyone in the crowd.  After he finished the 4 backup singers belted out Amen, Amen.  Mom and I were on our feet screaming with the crowd.  Eagle flag dropped down and he turned around.  Soon there he was in front of us belting it out.  Ten feet away fans blowing his hair out of his face.  Looking at mom I said well there he is and we rocked the night away!  KID ROCK, KID ROCK - You're the man!

I couldn't dance - didn't have the energy that day.  But I hollered as loud as my voice box and lungs would stand.  Taking deep breaths so every yell would count.  Just us two old woman having a special moment out on the town.

The next day my mom called for my son and I to come down to listen to a recording she had found.  Smiling from ear to ear she played DJ obviously excited for us to hear.  There was Kid Rock playing belting it out again.  Then she said did you hear that and played it again.  I couldn't deny it though I probably would if I could, my own voice screaming above the rest of the crowd.  The man recording just a few rows away.   I never missed a beat screaming on that concert day.  A memory we both enjoy to this very day!

I was embarrassed just my family present and listening to the screaming I displayed.

So I say - Good damn CD of Kid Rock and myself to save!
