I Still Prefer Rainy Days

Dog poo would give suspecting strangers all the warning needed to stay off from the bush that housed kids with missing parents. Two German Shepherd dogs with wit and tempered aggression, flanked the bush on either side, giving us kids the run of the trees. Barking as a warning only, quietly watching from their favourite hide away. Our four legged care givers fought flees secondary to watching us. Only the rain beating on our tin roof, gave both dogs and kids sleep from the pelting raindrops made on it. Still to this day, the raindrops remind me of Days gone by, when as kids we swong from the trees in view of dogs on a mission. There are families who still find shelter in the Controversy lane property Bermuda. Just think, we kids were the first to swing through them trees and had it not been for my Aunt who gave my dogs away, the police would not have taken us out from the bush to place us in Sunshine League, an orphanage home for children. Yet, even there, the rain would remain my companion as sleep called out as pelting sounds sang bedtime tunes. Dad went to jail behind our lodging in the bush. Our dogs while at my Aunt's house became killers, and only the rain would wash away the stench of dog remains in her back yard due to the cat and mouse game our pair of German Shepherd dogs played on un suspecting stray dogs seeking Lady who would be on heat. My sickness led to our having to be at my Auntie's house to begin with, and she walked me to the hospital with a trouble appendix problem. One more mile walking would have killed me, and while I lay in a hospital bed, my dogs laid in a bed of no return of their own. Rain on the hospital window sent me off to sleep, just as now a lifetime away from those days. I still prefer rainy days whether at work or play...nj
