The Invasion (Rough Draft)
The Invasion

Hey, my name’s Scott and I am here to tell you the thing that changed America forever. The Invasion. It started off like any normal day. I’m outside talking with friends and all of a sudden the sky turns black. When I say black I mean dark as night time. There wasn’t supposed to be a storm that day so we all thought the weatherman had made a mistake. It turns out the weatherman was just as surprised as we were. He advised everyone to stay inside and under no circumstances go outside. I’m not going to lie; I was pretty freaked out. Being only 19 this was all new to me. Nothing like this had ever happened before. The skies never got brighter. 5 p.m. everything changed.
Everyone is inside wondering what the hell is happening outside. Then all of a sudden we hear noises. My girlfriend was sitting right next to me and the look on her face was a look I’ll never forget. It was fear. They feed off fear. I never really thought things like this happened in real life but when it started happening I had no choice but to take action. I know what you’re thinking. This idiot went outside. No I didn’t I’m brave not stupid. I decide to take everyone upstairs and my friend Jordan and I are downstairs wondering what to do. I tell Jordan about the hidden safe in my closet. I tell him to go unlock the safe and grab what’s inside. I didn’t tell him what It was I only told him that whatever’s coming would give us a fighting chance. He opens the safe and returns to me with a few guns. I knew this day would come sooner or later.
Jordan goes to get everyone and passes out the guns. There are only five of us. Myself, Jordan, my girlfriend Cheyenne, and her two friends Brittany and Zack. The police are all outside my house and are taking action but it’s too dark to see exactly what’s happening. All we hear are screams. The screams of officers. At this point I know something bad is out there. I go upstairs to my room and under my bed there’s a long case at least 6 feet long. I open the case and grab a sword from it and a hunting knife. Whatever is outside is bad and it’s strong. I check with everyone to make sure they want to do this. No one backed out. I open the door to a world I’ve never seen before.
The dead are alive. Not only are they alive but they are on a mission to kill anything and everything in their path. Quickly we all run outside and observe the situation from behind the bushes. We needed a strategy. There are five of us and maybe hundreds of them. Then I tell Jordan and Zack about our call of duty strategy. Stick together and take them out with knives until they get stronger. Its Call of Duty: Zombies but in real life. Then just as we were talking we were spotted by one of the undead. My life flashed before my eyes. I thought it was all over. Then, out of nowhere Jordan takes my knife and cuts the head off the zombie. Once that happened it became all or nothing. After that my house was attacked from behind. There was no longer any safe place to hide. We’re all that’s left of the neighborhood.
The only safe place I can actually think of is my high school. Luckily it’s huge so there are plenty of places to hide and attack from. The only problem is that its five miles east and we have no car. It’s time to get down to business. I tell everyone the plan and we walk the streets running at full speed. All of a sudden we stop. There’s a horde of zombies headed straight for us at full speed. There are at least 100 of them. We take out our guns and start shooting. Firing round after round but nothing happens. It’s like they weren’t even being hit. I knew then bullets had no affect on these zombies. I pass out rubber gloves because this is about to be a bloody and dirty fight.
We only have seconds to act before they get to us. We’re standing in the middle of the street waiting. Then, they finally reach us and I run up to one with my gun and smack it as hard as I can. After I smack it I take my knife and take off its head. I remind the others since the zombies are already dead they have to be disconnected from the head. Everyone follows my lead. Brittany takes a few down with some shots to keep them back then slice some heads with her knife. Zack uses his gun as a knife and is just knocking off head after head. I’m thinking “This is unbelievable.”
Zombie after zombie, head after head. They just keep coming. Then a giant undead creature is making its way towards us. 7 feet tall and muscular. I try and get the jump on it by running at it. I’m thrown back like I was nothing to it. Zack tries and it tossed 10 feet in the air. At this point I knew this would take all of us to bring it down. Cheyenne throws rope around its legs and pulls tight. Zack stabs his gun in its gut. Jordan tried to slice its head off with his knife. Brittany and Lucy try setting it on fire. Nothing worked, so I decided to grab my sword and stab it in its brain. The creature knocks me off on my back and takes the sword out. As soon as he takes my sword out I’m thinking “What in the world is this thing?”
This creature is not like the others, it’s taller, bigger, stronger, faster, and it just might be smarter than us. Alone we’re doomed but if we put our minds together we can find a way to beat this thing. Zack throws a flash bang at it to blind it for a few seconds. This was long enough to let Jordan and Cheyenne throw concussion grenades at it to stun it long enough for me to take a shot at the head with my sword. A direct hit and it’s starting to bleed but it hasn’t gone down. Brittany and Lucy shoot gunshots directly at its open wound. The creature’s getting slower. “Keep going!” I yell at everyone. We’re making progress. It’s becoming weaker. I quickly take the hook off a grenade and place it in its neck and run as fast as I can away from it. Boom! The grenade explodes and off goes the monsters head.
Miles ahead we see tanks and SWAT trucks. We thought we had the SWAT team on our side. The five of us go to greet them and see if there’s anything we can do to help them out. Just as we go to greet them they point their guns at us. “Nobody move.” I told the rest of my team. The commander of the SWAT team looked at me and asked me “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you and the rest of your friends?” I said “That wouldn’t be a smart idea. I have people in high places.” The commander laughed in my face little did he know I wasn’t bluffing. “Tell your men to stand down or else.” I said. The commander gave me a smile. He still thinks I’m bluffing. Bow bow. Two shots were fired at Brittany and Lucy in the head. They were killed immediately. There they were two beautiful girls who did nothing wrong just lying there in a pool of blood. I threw up a peace sign and told the commander I warned him. Boom! The commander was shot through the head by a sniper on the roof of the one of the homes. I turned my attention to the rest of the SWAT team. “Alright, listen up you all work for me now. If you try and turn against me my sniper on the roof will not hesitate to take you out. There are bigger problems out in this damn town besides your egos so if you want out I suggest you drop your weapons and walk away if not follow us.” No one walked away. It seems they got the message loud and clear.
Only about 3 more miles left until we reach the school but there are thousands of zombies. They could smell our sent, I was sure of it. The further we walk the more zombies we see. I see a zombie head on the ground and pick it up. When we reach the zombies I have my sword in my left hand and the zombie head in my right. I raise the head up and say “Come and get me.” I was fully aware that I was basically committing suicide but it didn’t matter. The zombies are pissed and start running at me at full speed. I told Cheyenne to stay with the SWAT team while Zack and Jordan follow me. The three of us run towards the zombies at full speed with swords and guns ready to defend this town even if it means sacrificing our lives for it. Then all of a sudden the heard stop and there’s a loud sound of a chain saw. Vroom vroom. The ground is shaking to the point where it feels like an earthquake. “What the hell is happening?” Zack asked me. “I’m not sure but whatever it is it’s big.” A massive 10 foot tall round and buff zombie with a chainsaw smashed through the heard of zombies and stood in front of us. “We might be screwed.” “Anyone have an idea?” Zack and Jordan were in shock and couldn’t speak. I grab my walkie talkie and tell the SWAT team to come forward. The zombie is outnumbered and doesn’t seem to care. “On my mark.” I told the team. “Fire!” hundreds of rounds of bullets are flying at the monster but they only seem to make it madder. The zombie throws its chainsaw at me but misses and takes out a row of my SWAT team. At the point I started to get really upset. “I’m so sick and tired of everyone dying around me.” I take my sword get a towel and pour gas on the towel then wipe it around my sword blade and set it on fire. Believe me when I say it’s about to go down.
My sword is on fire and I’m tired of holding back. Zack and Jordan try to go distract the beast so I have a chance to hit it with my best shot. While the monster is looking at the both of them I sneak behind it and throw my sword at its back. It lets out a loud cry. I can tell it’s in pain. I tell one of the SWAT members to get back to the truck and get me a flamethrower. A few minutes passed and when the member finally returned and gave me the flamethrower Zack and Jordan were thrown at least 10 feet by the monster. Then it turns its attention towards me. “Say goodbye!” I said to the creature before I lit it on fire. It was burning that’s when I knew that its weakness was fire. “Quick throw some gas on it!” I yelled. Once the gas was thrown on it within seconds the monster was no longer a threat to us and it just lay there burned to a crisp. I grab my sword from its body and cut off its head to make sure it doesn’t come back again.
We finally reached the school around 10p.m. and as I stand on the roof I see nothing but the undead. This war is not over. Not by a long shot, but I will fight to the death to make sure these creatures never return.
