Lies

Lies are piling up at your feet upon our floor. Do you sweep them under the rug or fess up as I watch you look at the heaping pile. That's when I notice the change in your appearance as your face twist in anger. You shove the lies towards me and tell me there's more to come. As you say this lies rain down from the sky like confetti. I feel pain in my chest as I watch what some of them say as they flutter to the floor…. “I love you”, “Your beautiful” are some of the many hitting the ground. And in that moment my emotions let loose and I weep knowing that the lies I was worried about weren’t even the worse. As I turned my back to leave you with tears streaming down my face I heard you say the grave words “I never loved you” and in that moment I found out that I had been freed.
