Lost Kitten

Her hair flew around her, her long bangs blowing away, showing her tears. A life that she had been forced to live finally toke its tole on her. The bloody lines frames her pale wrists, her cat tail dragging behind her. Halloween was her favorite day and yet it haunted her worst than anything else. Her family acted as though she wasn't wanted and her friends had abandoned her.

She walked a lonely road, one that few had ever known. Blood dripped down her fingers, driven pink with rain. She hoped that her loneliness was only temporary, begging someone gives her the chance to be someone special.

The rain splatter the trees. Her pace quickened. She was tired, her bleeding was slowing. She was close to leaving.

"Is someone there," a voice called.

She stopped and peered around a tree. There on the ground was a little child, no more than four or five. "Yes. Are you okay, little one." She stepped around the tree.

"Are you an angel?" The little boy asked.

"No, I'm no where close to an angel." She said.

The boy looked up, his eyes watering from sadness and loss. "Mommy told me that those marks on your arms are because you're an angel and can't handle how mean the world is. Big Brother's an angel and he came for my mommy this morning."

"Where's your daddy?" She asked the little boy.

"He left when brother left. Do you know where I can find a new mommy?" the boy begged for an answer.

"I can be your mommy." She told the little boy.

"Promise you won't leave me?" He looked into her eyes.

"I promise, you need me more than I need to believe what others say." She smiled. "Lets go introduce you to your new grandma and grandpa."
