My First Gay Night Out

My first Gay Night Out
Â
I am 54 years old the story I am about to tell you took place when I was 18 years old. I discovered at the age of 18 that I was most definitely gay. I had heard stories about the gay bar in downtown Victoria, the city where I grew up. So one night I decided to go to the gay bar and see what went on there for myself. I took the city bus downtown and I was so nervous about going to the gay bar which was called Pals, that I went to Scots all night restaurant for coffee to give me time to calm my nerves before I could get the courage up to go to the gay bar. I was bullied all through high school because some fellow students thought I was gay, so I didn’t want anyone to see me go down to the gay bar for fear I might be attacked. I must have had three cups of coffee before I mustered up the courage to go down Pals. I quickly walked in the bar door so that no one would see me enter Pals. The doorman greeted me with a big smile and let me in without IDing me. There were all kinds of disco lights and loud disco music (which I loved) the bar was wall to wall men and not a woman in sight. I sat down and nervously drank my first beer in no time at all I had met six men in the bar and been sent a drink by an admirer. I felt so good about my decision to go to Pals and I was so accepted by the gay patrons of the bar I was overwhelmed. I was not used to being accepted by my peers like I was that Night. Many men had an attraction for me and more drinks were sent to me. The end of the night came to soon it was like a fairy-tale had ended. I ended up walking home with a man on each arm and a night full of secrets to keep
