My Strong Little Angel Part 2

Well after they did finish his surgery they had to leave his chest open for about,because his heart was swollen. It took a lot out of us to see our son only five days old lying there with three chest tubes hang out of him, his chest open to the point where u can see his heart and he was also on a ventilator down his throat. The doctors left his chest open like that for about 2 weeks, but when they did close it up he still had the three chest tubes and the ventilator. We couldn't even hear him cry the only way we knew he was crying is because he turned red in the face,his blood pressure, and his heart rate would shoot through the roof. We couldn't comfort him at all because the doctor said that just by touching him would be to much stress on his little heart. They started taking his chest tubes out one by one but when they got to the last one they couldn't because it was the one that drained all the fluid from around his heart. On Sept.15 the finally took the last one out and they made plans to do his other surgery on that Friday. On the 16 he was off of the vent and they told me that they had decided to go ahead and do his other surgery on the 17. I was happy and sad at the same time because i was saying to myself once that get that done we can go home but at the same time i didn't want him to go through another surgery.
