A Note To God For A Friend

In life we find friends, and the leadings that come from such friendships can take us deep into things from which there can seem no escape. It is in these times when God can show up and show out. However, the choice to let go and let God can seem a leading all its own and a bit overwhelming at times.
A bit short for his age, and strong for his size, Benson was the only son of a father and mother bent on his success. A fresh start in a new town in the south side of their state, gave Benson's father a better job and new crack at life with his family's future always on his mind. As a nurse, it was never hard for the wife and mother, to pitch in and pull together for the said goal, together as one for the future. And without noticing Benson was already hard and fast in a new frendship with neighbouring boys.
What always starts of simple, many times is the rock bed to the impossible. New friends new town and times, not so bad ideas and uppotunities that call for quick decissions. While mom was doing a dubble, and dad was sleep from a hard day at the job, Benson did a quick look back at the house, and then eased into the car of friends that sped off into the night.
What started off as a prank, became too fast and furious for young men posing as gangstas. Faking a rubbery is one thing, but taking the money from a easy prank, proved too much for one or two in the gang which led to much confusion with the rest, and heart felt questions for Benson. 
Too deep into the friendship to guide differently, and too sure with his family togetherness to continue with these type choices, a change was needed, but how can he prove up to the choice to do so. Breathing a simple prayer of deliverence, both because he knew what his parents would think if they knew what he was into, and feeling himself in over his head he prayes silently and earnestly.
He was able to get home without incident, and at his desk in his own room, he bowed his head again and gave thanks to God for bringing him home safely. taking out a pen he wrote down a message to God, and signed it with his favorite signiture. Then gave his heart to God anew. Before long Benson was off to sleep in the comfort of forgivness and assurance.
Benson called a meeting with his friends, and told then he gave his heart to God and that things would be different with him from that day on. He asked them to join him to which they laughed, and let him go his way for being so bold with his request of them. So it was a shocker to them when they heard that benson died in a tragic accident on his way home from school that day. Numness hit both the comunity and the home of Benson as he was laid to rest through tears
It was years before the note was discovered in Benson's room. His Mother stumbled acrossed it as she was removing her son's things. The letter read, dear Jesus...I give myself to you anew...I know it is possible that the life my friends have chosen may lead them to death sooner rather then later...I ask to be taken first if my life can be a light to them...(tears rolled down the cheak of Benson's Mom as she read on)...let it be, that the choice i have made today, be the gift of light to them...for it is the least i can do for them as I seek to honor you in all things.
Benson's Mom collected herself, and felt sure this note should be sent to all his friends. Two were in prison, and one was in a hospital dying from wonds he suffered from the streets. All in all, the letter proved the blessing Benson's prayer was meant to be...and it gave closure to his family like a note from God would!
