- POET ENVROD SAMUEL'S POEM
- " SINNING AIN'T THAT BAD"
______________________________
I sinned today
I blasphemed against
All the concepts inherent
In the supremacy of the soul
And the crowning glory of the afterlife
(Sin is treated as an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law; the poem gives an opening to many thoughts on after life and before life)
I asked questions
And delved into my psyche
Where I found conundrums
That fatally wound my conscience
I decided to set myself free
Free of shackles imposed by dogma
That is irrelevant to
My innate sense of fraternity
(The continuation of life after death is a universal question. A question: “Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He springs up like a flower and withers away; like a fleeting shadow, he does not endure....If a man dies, will he live again?” )
I am relieved that I can now
Think of the here and now
And of me
And not of outdated philosophy
(As human beings, we are thinking about today only, and not on tomorrow, because tomorrow is in dark, w are unable to predicate tomorrow, it is not our mistake)
Now I am untethered
And my soul has topical value
With a limited finite lifespan
I can cherish the day I live
And worry not about
The ghost of sins past
That torment me
And which have no sense of honesty
(The intention of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out keenly and without fear for newer and richer experience.)
I will rejoice
In the peace of
My new felt sensitivity
To humanity that surrounds me
And my ability to grasp new concepts
Of life
That now do not exclude me
( We all think to live in a peaceful environment, to do so, we need to love each other, avoid sin)
I am becoming a saint
That walks and breathes
And who understands
Life’s meaningless complexities
That once disastrously
Decimated society
(It is true sometimes life is meaningless, but many times, to many people, it has become very meaningful)
It feels good now that sin has
Comfortingly enveloped me
I can do as I do
And let the demons
Of another world abandon me
I am after all
Able to love me
(We cannot escape our failure to be righteous in our own strength. This is by God's design, because only when we understand our weakness will we consider relying on the atoning sacrifice of the unknown creator)

What Is Sin? We live in a culture where the concept of sin has become entangled in legalistic arguments over right and wrong. When many of us consider "What is sin?" we think of violations of the Ten Commandments in the Christian philosophy, Even then, we tend to think of murder and adultery as "major" sins compared with lying, cursing, or idolatry.
The truth is that sin, as defined in the original translations of the Bible, means "to miss the mark." The mark, in this case, is the standard of perfection established by God, viewed in that light, it is clear that we are all sinners.
Sin is mentioned hundreds of times in the Bible, starting with the "original" sin when Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge. Often it seems as if sin is simply the violation of any of God's laws, including the Ten Commandments.
God wanted us to recognize our sins. Even those who have not murdered or committed adultery will find themselves convicted of lying, or of worshipping false idols like wealth or power ahead of God. Tragically, sin in any amount will distance us from God. We must resist the temptation to act as if we are righteous, especially by leaning on our good works.
The Bible tells us that there is not only life after death, but eternal life so glorious that “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him”
Please accept my congratulations for sharing such a good and thought provoking poem to our reader, Keep writing more and more, wishing you good luck,
Regards & Love
