"Renewed"

He had made his way deep into the wilderness. Slugging, step by step in a constant downpour of heavy and freezing rain. The lights of of the artificial world of men now dim in the distance behind him.

Suddenly, there was a brilliant flash of lightning followed almost at once by a loud crashing of thunder! He stopped instantly and raise his face to the darkening sky. The rain pelted his face and his tears mixed with the drops rolling down his cheeks. "BETRAYED!" he shouted at the top of his lungs! The thunder rumbled in seeming agreement.

He fell to his knees in the clinging mud. He hammered his fist at the muck at his feet. "I have been betrayed.." he whispered and the wind howled it's sympathy.

Then he felt his blood warm. His face hardened to the cold and his tears fell no more. "I will begin again!" He shouted. "I will begin again alone!"

He stood upright again. He felt alive and strong again. His eyes looking forward to the snow shrouded mountains in front of him and he never again cast a thought or a glance to what lay behind.
