ROPE SWING

Hanging from a noose, he’s what some may call a martyr, others a sinner. One who takes his own life has surely committed the ultimate sin. Going against the plan of God, just like he has been doing his whole life. God has laid out these laws to live by in his book called the Bible.

His room is dark, as usual. Only the light that peaks through the crack in the curtains illuminates the center of the room. The dark blue walls make the room feel even smaller than it is, the walls that close in on him as he sits there. A tear runs down his face, but his lip does not quiver. His face is strong, determined; yet his eyes are scared, hurt, and bloodshot. The silence in the room is eerie. The sound of his heart overwhelms his eardrums. He hears the flow of the water in the pipe, as the shower downstairs turns on.

What difference does it make, all of my life I’ve been called a sinner anyway. He thinks, as he ties the noose hanging from the water pipe loosely around his neck, still slightly contemplating his decision. Slowly the dark walls close in on him. His eyes shut, and within seconds, a life full of years of torment and guilt, is over.
