Sordid Masquerade: Chapter 1

Sordid Masquerade: Chapter 1

As she fumbled back, where her foot once stood remained an imprint of thick coagulating blood. I twisted the blade once more, feeling the tiny fibers and sinews of her flesh snap at the turn of my wrist. My breath was calm, while her's was quickening, in that moment I realized that I had ignored the notion of sound, immediately her scream re-inhabited the dim lit shack and my mentalized illusion of bliss was further embellished by her agonized screech.Β

"We're done here" i whispered as her cries became accepting gasps, relief as the ordeal was nearing an end, numbed out by the excruciating of my desires.Β
drained lifeless through the satisfaction of my hunger, she doubled forward and held me with her last parting of strength. her bloodied, tattered arms encased me in an eternal embrace, her eyes turned to marble, her kiss was now cold and hard.Β

five months have passed Β and now clueless as to what my life has become I find the old dusty book, the book we shared, who's words and thoughts we prepared together. the moments captured within the weathered pages resonated, harking back to the time an anxious predator found its willing prey, the time when we begged each other for each other. I closed the book just as Julia ambled through the door of my study, just in time for it not to inspire any intrigue or curiosity, as if my memories with Briella were fated to be our own. She presented me with a tray laden with a selection of cold meat sandwiches, a pitcher of raspberry cordial and a generous smattering of fresh custard in a side plate Β the waft of vanilla and smoked pork intermingled to disturb my somber mood and sent a small torrent of saliva running down the inside of my cheeks. still seated and in no rush to serve a social standard, i grabbed the tray from Julia without so much as a thank you and half nodded to command her departure. As i took my first bite, I remembered the blade, five months today, as it intruded on Bri's soft belly, each bite rang back to each stab and each kiss. I became so ravenous in this trance-like reminiscence that I devoured my sandwiches so quick, and lost my chance to savor the pig. I washed down the soft, wet morsels from between my teeth with the blood red nectar and slurped the custard, dancing my tongue around the texture contrast between its skin and the soft, organic inside, just like i did with Bri, just like she asked me to.
