Street Fighter II: 30th Anniversary

Street Fighter II: 30th Anniversary

I bought Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition for the Sega Genesis thirty years ago today. I bought it on December 11, 1993. I remember when I bought it because it was exactly two weeks before Christmas Day. I didn't have enough money to buy it until I recycled a lot of aluminum cans. I bought it at Kmart. It cost about sixty-eight dollars plus tax.

On this game you can choose from the following characters to fight as: Ryu, Chun Li, Dhalsim, Blanka, E Honda, Guile, Ken, Zangief. You can also choose to play as the boss characters. They are: Balrog, Vega, Sagat and M Bison. Each character has special moves that can be used to defeat opponents. It was too hard for me to learn these moves so I mostly played as E Honda and Balrog. It's pretty easy to bitch slap people with E Honda and to give headbutts with Balrog. If you've played Street Fighter II and learned the characters special moves, I congratulate you. You're a very good video game player.

When my brother bought Street Fighter II: The World Warrior for the SNES in 1994, I was surprised to learn that it didn't let the player fight as the boss characters. When I bought Street Fighter II, my brother swore up and down that Capcom got the idea to make Street Fighter II from Mortal Kombat. But what my brother and I didn't know at the time was that Street Fighter II was released in 1991. It was released one year before Mortal Kombat was released.

One thing that I dislike about Street Fighter II is that it will only show the endings if it's played on one of the harder skill levels. Mortal Kombat shows the endings even if it is played on the easier skill levels. I do like Mortal Kombat a little better than Street Fighter II because of the blood and fatalities. But I have always liked and enjoyed playing Street Fighter II.
