My Sunday Day Greetings to COSMOFUNNEL Administration, to all authors, artistes and viewers

SYNOPSIS: This is my weekend writing column for a review of a poem from a selected author. This Column is being titled as " Sunday Musings " with a view to feature an in-depth analysis of  any one of the poems from the previous weeks winning nominations, selected by me at random to avoid the elaborate review or comment postings  by me in the usual comments column. Shah Jehan Ashrafi's almost all poems are great success and have won the nominations; hence it was very difficult to choose the best one for my review. However, I shall plan this column in such a way to accommodate almost all style of poems by all poets and poetess of COSMOFUNNEL, which I hope will give more room for encouragement and inspirations to write. The poems selected are purely from my own liking and discretion and has nothing to do with the ratings, voting and nomination aspects. Hope, readers will understand my view point and enjoy my writing. My views and interpretations in this column are purely my own observations, and it has nothing to do with the personal life of the author of the poem.  I am eager to read your feed-backs.  The poem which  I have taken-up for this Sunday Musings is this

Venom in the blood (The blood has become venom. The living snakes)

The colour in the mouth is red  (The colour of blood is red. Mouth is full of blood, death is nearby)

What is it like being dead (The poem becomes a deadly event)

Answer if you are out of your head  (The Poetess is giving us a question to answer by this verse )

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Poetess Shah Jehan Al Basri is not a stranger to Cosmofunnel viewers and  authors. She is a good poetess and had contributed many wonderful poems for the readers during early year 2103. Let us welcome her again to this site with an appreciation through my column " Sunday Musings ". Shah Jehan Begum Ashrafi had been living in Mauritius in the capacity of an educator. She likes to write fiction and non-fiction. Moreover, She is and educator. She had been teaching English, French and Literature in colleges. Several plays written by her had been performed at the National Drama Festival in Mauritius. Her first published work is a study guide on Arthur Miller’s play ‘All My Sons’. Writing poetry is her passion and she is also working on a novel and some short stories. Now the author lives in Canada and wishes to take up other jobs and widen her experience and knowledge. 'Poems from the Soul' is a collection of poems. The poems are based on different themes. These themes are the results of the range of experiences that daily life teaches to human beings. They reflect meditation. Free verse has been used to let the poet express feelings and emotions without being interrupted by barriers posed by concrete forms in poetry

READ BETWEEN THE LINES

According to many scholastic writers, the concept or word " Halloween " (All Hallows' Eve) came up as  a Christian feast, initially influenced by Celtic harvest festivals with possible pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic Samhain. Other academic scholars preserve that it has originated separately of Samhain and has solely Christian roots. The concept is very famous from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain, modern Halloween has become less about literal ghosts and ghouls and more about costumes and candy. The Celts used the day to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, and also believed that this transition between the seasons was a bridge to the world of the dead.  Over the millennia the holiday transitioned from a somber pagan ritual to a day of merriment, costumes, parades and sweet treats for children and adults. No doubt  Poetess Shah Jehan Ashraf's poem has contributed  a delicious treat of poetry to us by way of  this poem.

" all hollow's eve ", 31st October, the night of the living dead, opening realm of spiritual boundaries, thus walk amongst us, feastings and ceremonies offering a place of souls table, bonfires burn in spiritual rituals offerings of sacrifice honouring the spirit realm, children, adults wear costumes to disguise themselves, in fear of the walking dead, featuring scary costumes to fright off the evils of all hallows eve,
my childhood favorite holiday, as for my children now, so much fun , and so adorable to see happy little monsters fill the streets, trick or treating,

congratulations on your poem review miss Shah xx
