The Snake Charmer ( Complete )
It's been so long I can't even remember
I think it's somewhere between January and December
Sand in my eyes and I can taste the desert in my mouth
I swear I just felt a scorpion crawl out
I haven't seen a soul mile after mile
I'm still sane or I'm in denial
I trudge on though hopelessly
I can hear and see the vultures as they circle me
Wishing I would just die so they can feast
With every step I take I can feel my heart beat decrease
Until off in the distance I can see an oasis
A place of pure beauty stuck in a stasis
I wonder closer though my feet start to fail
I ponder if this is the end of my tale
My eyes roll back I was almost there
My muscles so sore I can feel them tear
The sun burns out and I drift to sleep
The cost of my travel was way to steep
To my absolute surprise
I've managed opened my eyes
Shocking to me even more
Was that someone had pulled me from the desert floor
And I was in a bed not sand
And all my pain was gone, none of this I could understand
I looked around and it was night
But the room was lit by candle light
The walls seemed to be a golden shade
With not a single hint of age
It seemed I had hit the jackpot
For my sickly dying body had hit someone's sweet spot
No use ruining this hospitality
I will lay here and nurse my mentality
And see what the morning bares to show
And hope my host makes there presence known
I was awoken by a child and the aroma of good eats
It perked me up and on my feet
He said hello to me and offered the meal
I said thanks and cased the room for something to steal
Like I said before the room looked like gold
And in the sunlight, was a sight to behold
I kept my manners out in clear sight
I may be a snake, but I do not bite
He asked how I was feeling with big brute eyes
He actually cared, to my surprise
"Better than I ever have," I boasted
And raised my glass as if I toasted
He asked me my name; he was a dear
I said, "well, my new friend, my name is Amir"
He said, "follow me I am here to take ya
To meet the people of Thahab Fidda"
I said, "this city is called gold and silver?"
He said, "yes, my friend, and you I must deliver"
I took his hand and walk out into the sunlight
The shine from the structures almost took my sight
And as we walked he carried my bag
And I casually looked around for an entry to sack
We came to a large door to a jewel encrusted palace
My thoughts were on me and a pile of gold, drinking whine from a chalice
The giant door creeks open and as I step foot inside
The shine from the walls make me think I had died
Aside from the gold of the room
And the walls studded with ornate jewels
Beautiful women doing various tasks scatter the hall
And at the end was a throne standing tall
Me and the child approach
But as I arrived I find a frog in my throat
Welcome to my city traveler exclaimed a short fat bearded man
Who sat drinking whine as more women fan
I said hello my liege my name is Amir
And I've been treated well by your tiny friend here
He said that Thahab Fidda is open to you
Explore its streets and do whatever you want to
You look much better then how you were found
His bulbous body mixed with the acoustics in the room filled with much sound
Tonight we will celebrate to your good health
I will extend my wealth
We will feast and watch the performers parade
In the streets of our golden city the only place in the desert with shade
The women will serenade
I said wonderful I can hardly wait, filled to the brim with anticipation
What a suggestion
I thought yes sir , I will do what I want
I need to figure out how to hatch my plot
So much riches here I'm sure they can spare
Just how do I get it out, a thought I can't share
Think Amir , how do I do it
And at that moment I come to a solution
As the sun resides beyond the desert mountains
The moon sheds light upon the fountains
The bustle of a full city at celebration
I've come upon the answer to my equation
The king Of Thahab Fidda had me sit next to his royal seat
As performers danced to the drum beat
He asked about my life and what kind of man I am
So I secretly inject my plan
I've prepared a story of being down and out
And that my people suffered from a drought
No food , no water and that I was on a mission
To get them riches to change their condition
I say ( my lord with all that you have you could spare
And save my people from disrepair )
Amir he says , deep and gruff
I will share my friend I have enough
Send message to your clan
That you will return a wealthy man
Thank you my lord you will see
Your gift will mean the world to me
Did I say me, my lord I meant them
I quickly try to say to him
He said I know I can see your excitement
Now let's enjoy the entertainment
And like from a dream
She had appeared so serene
I was trapped in her gaze and the melody
I think that it's fate
All of a sudden I only had eyes for the women with the snake
...
Next thing I knew , I lay naked in the the sand
Out in the desert again, I don't understand
I search for what felt like hours
For the shining gates and golden towers
I find that just as I feared
Thahab Fidda had disappeared
Confused I wondered till I found a caravan
Vacant and half swallowed by the sand
I took some rags and wrapped my body
So if someone saw I'd not be an oddity
As night fell I followed the stars toward home
I found a camel lost and all alone
We became fast friends and I got on for a ride
He had two humps but one kind of drooped to the side
As day started to break we came upon my home village
Smoke poured out , an obvious pillage
I got to the gates and dropped to my knees
Let this be a mirage I do plead
Dead lay in the roads and huts were on fire
The situation here was bleak and dire
Just at that moment I see the culprits
They ravaged my home and filled up their pockets
It was the Snake Charmer, I let my guard down
She explained ( I am the daughter of the crown
You thought us for a fools den
To line your pockets with gold you can spend
Loose lips
Sink ships
As I am now sure your aware
When all I had to do was influence and pretend I care
I've done to you
What you planed to do
Except I destroyed your city and left it on fire
So I could destroy you when you came to retire )
She came in close grabbed me by my hair
Forced my eyes open so I'd have to stare
She said ( well boys let's have a toast )
Then wrenched my scalp ...
And Slit my throat...
